Tonight’s performance of WAITRESS is being filmed. Lots of cameras and whatnots, yo.
Unfortunately I doubt it's for a proshot, most likely just for media. Hadestown reopening night looked very similar, it's not uncommon.

But opening night was weeks ago. Why would they have a whole bunch of cameras in to capture more B-Roll of Sara who is about to depart the show.

There was also a pre-show speech (included in the stream they did on tiktok tonight) where it was announced that there were cameras and he mentioned something about the rights being acquired for a live filming right before COVID.
Isn’t she with the show until 10/16? It’s the other members who have to leave earlier for other shows.

Looks like someone in the waitress casting thread who is there tonight also confirmed they are recording tonight.
While it was not 100% confirmed/formally announced, it was indeed heavily rumored/hinted at back when the Broadway return was announced that there would likely be a proshot.

They were also filming (had multiple cranes) yesterday morning before Sara called out. I realize literally everything up to this point has been mere rumors or that you could be right about media (do they really need more Sara b-roll for a limited engagement though?), but my gut tells me this is absolutely going to a streaming service. Far too many rumors and inside talk about this happening over the past few months. Sara keeps hinting that “something big is coming” on her socials.

So glad Sara's Jenna is being filmed

The filming could possibly go on for a few days. That used to be the story at the Met. They'd tape several performances and then cobble together a tape that featured the best singing for broadcast over PBS. I don't think that happens with "Live in HD" though.

All “live” broadcasts are filmed 3 times: two with an audience and one without (for close-ups, etc). The recent revival of SHE LOVES ME did a live streamed performance but the released version used on Broadway HD and aired on PBS, etc was edited together from the 3 filmed performance. None of these “live” pro-shots use footage from a single performance.
Having only seen Sara in the role I kind of wish it was Jessie Mueller who was filmed! Her voice sounds a bit more fractured/emotive to me on the cast recording than Sara did but I completely get it. It's her show, and she is more of a star.

There have been signs in the lobby all week asking people to be quiet as filming has been going on in some form or another since Monday.
Yes looks like they also filmed closeups without an audience.

Hopefully something is announced soon in terms of where it will be streaming!!
OMG!!!!!
I saw this show back in 2019 with Stephanie Torns and Joey McIntyre, and it sounded old and stale.
Nevertheless, I’d love to see this proshot capture and give this show another chance, especially with Bareilles in the cast. Perhaps the show felt fresh again during the Barrymore run.
Omg dying from anticipation. I loved Sara's Jenna so much I saw it like five times.

There were some very very minor changes to the returning production. I loved it just as much as I did pre-shut down.
Do we know which streaming service picked this up? I know the Keri Russell film was distributed by fox, so I wonder if Disney bought the streaming rights.

Nothing has been announced at all. This was just from what Sara posted on her Instagram story. That’s it.
