Posted: 4/15/13 at 11:09pmWhen did anyone expect REALISM from this show? When pot was planted on a student because the teacher wanted him in the glee club in the PILOT should have dashed those hopes. (Which is the only episode I've ever watched in full.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Ok, maybe developed was a bad word choice:
The Glee affect: Dubbed "Glee for adults," the executive producers credit the Fox series for paving the way for Smash. "Actually, it's a perfect description," Shaiman says. "To say it's Glee for grownups is not any kind of a dig at Glee; it just means out characters are older."

Both shows are fantasies and if you're not willing to go there stylistically, you're not going to appreciate the kitchie pleasures they offer. Naturalism is not what they're going for. It's like complaining that Mary Poppins is stupid because no woman could sail through the air with an umbrella. And I admire that they're both doing something different, if not consistently successfully, other than rom-com, procedural crime, frat boy slacker humor, and the rest (not there's not room for that stuff, too).

I believe this is the third time we have seen her audition for a musical on the show.
For Cabaret, she sang a Celine Dion song. There are some Celine Dion songs that could have worked, but not Taking Chances.
For West Side Story, I don't remember what she sang for her specific audition, but she and Mercedes sang Out Here On My Own for their callback (remind me again why anyone would audition/be asked to audition for Maria with a belty song).
I know those two are for high school productions, so the standards of audition songs are lowered, but the Journey song is par for the course.
Hopefully, the flashback to the first episode signifies that things are coming full-circle and will soon stop.

Oh, god. I just had a horrible thought: what if they decide this would be a great way to seque into an announcement??
