If both he and Drew Gehlhing are only playing Dr P up until the 24 Nov (same last date as Jennifer Nettles) I wonder if they’re planning a new celeb Jenna and Dr P pairing from that date …. or maybe Nicolette and Leslie Odom Jr could be a possibility? Crazy that there’s never been a POC Dr P!"
Nicolette and Leslie Odom Jr. ending the run would be so amazing! I don't see Kacey Musgraves in the running. I believe she'll be touring for her new album soon.

I was there! The show went on with business as usual until Christopher Fitzgerald came on as Ogie. He was INSANE like amazing insane, and went offstage after “Never Ever Getting Rid of Me” on a scooter, and there was so much applause that he did a little circle back behind where the kitchen set is!
Then it was business as usual again until She Used To Be Mine. Sara got through most of it, but when she got to the final “she is messy” she fully stopped out of emotion. It was like when Cynthia Erivo stopped during her final “I’m Here”. The audience gave her a standing ovation, I even think the band stood as well. Then she made a comment like “you know how this ends”. And finished the song. At the end I think Jessie Nelson (book writer) came out and spoke about Sara, Christopher Fitzgerald and the two little girls playing Lulu as it was also their final show.
I was curious though because Drew Gehling wasn’t acknowledged and I thought it was his last show. Maybe he asked not to have anything said.
it was truly an unforgettable performance. And Gerianna was on for Nurse Norma (she’s fantastic) and Anastacia (spelling&hellip was on for Becky, who was also incredible!!
That sounds wonderful, hearthemsing22! Gehling is coming back off an on over the next few weeks, so that is probably the reason no words were mentioned about him specifically.
N2nbaby, Houlahan and Dawson had their last performance one or two weeks ago. Houlahan is doing Girl From North Country. I was hoping to see Houlahan this past week, but I was not disappointed by Ashley Blanchet!

I don't; believe it was Drew's last show. He is missing two weeks (dates are somewhere) and will be replaced during those weeks by Erich Bergen. I believe I read somewhere that he is around until Thanksgiving but I could be wrong about that,
Did they ever wind up filming this reboot? I thought there was an early rumor that they wanted do film it in London pre-COVID. That plan blew up with the stoppage and then they brought it back to Broadway hoping to film it. It would be a shame if they missed the opportunity again.

I saw a tweet saying that Jennifer isn’t playing Jenna from 1-6 Nov, in case anyone specifically wants to see her in the show and was thinking of those days. Can’t find the tweet now though so I’d double check yourself cos don’t want to give wrong info!
It’s interesting to see that there are a lot of tickets available for upcoming shows other than tonight’s performance. Feels like, post covid, this show really needs a big name like Sara to put bums on seats. Unless the seats are filling up on the day!
Sadly I’m not going to be able to see Jennifer during her run but I’m sure she’ll do great - she has a great voice at least!
With all due respect to Sarah (and I love her and gladly spent the money to see her the first time around), I'd think Nettles is a "bigger" name giving her country music success. Maybe people know her more as Sugarland and not her actual name? But I'd assume most tourists would know/have heard of her.

Maybe then, idk! I wasn’t v familiar with her personally, but I don’t closely follow country music to be fair. She doesn’t seem to be shifting tickets the way Sara was.

Jennifer is arguably a bigger name, but has anyone seen any advertising for her run? Or any advertising at all? Very unlike the Weisslers. (I mean, we had Erika Jayne lording over NYC for two years because of the insane amount of advertising for her just before the shutdown.)
"Hey little girls, look at all the men in shiny shirts and no wives!" - Jackie Hoffman, Xanadu, 19 Feb 2008
She's only in it for a month right? So maybe they didn't feel the need to spend the money. I'm sure she has a social media following, so that's free advertising right there.
Wow, wow, wow! Jennifer Nettles as Jenna was a revelation. I’ve only seen Jessie Mueller, so she’s all I can compare her to, but Jennifer’s Jenna is very different. She is truly BROKEN and I don’t think she even cracked a smile until Bad Idea. Her voice was in top shape and fit her like a glove. She had great chemistry with Erich Bergen, who was also great and hilarious.
Now on the flip side…
Nik Dodani gave one of the worst performances, if not the worst, that I’ve ever seen on a Broadway stage. From clips, I would compare him to Cameron Dallas’ stint in Mean Girls. I’m sure Nik is a lovely guy, but he cannot sing. Not even a small bit. It was painful and I’ve seen better performances at middle school musicals. He also wasn’t terribly funny and he couldn’t even sing with the music.. just embarrassing. There are thousands of people out of work and THIS is what we are given? Gross.
Even so, run, do not walk to the Barrymore. Nettles is giving such a special performance, it’s worth the few shortcomings.
I was there and agree 100%. I expected big things from Jennifer and she delivered. Been following her career for years. I knew she had the chops and she certainly lived up my expectations.
Was sort of looking forward to Nik as I loved him in Atypical, but wow that was downright embarasssing. Chris Fitzgerald is certainly big shoes to fill, but damn.. he wasn't in key for either of his two brief numbers. Doesn't posses an ounce of the charm, quirkiness or humor we have come to expect from Ogie. And I agree, there are literally thousand of actors who could step and perform this role.
For a second, i thought i was losing my mind. I thought is he supposed to be singing this badly? It just made zero sense..
My boyfriend (who has never seen the show) looked at me and said “is he SUPPOSED to not be able to sing?” Truly dumbfounded as to why he is standing on that stage.
I was there last night as well. Jennifer Nettles was wonderful and her voice fit the score extremely well.
But I had to chime in about Nik Dodani's performance, which was in my recent memory the worst performance I've ever seen on a Broadway stage. Not a single note was on key and everyone in the mezzanine was looking at each other during "Never Ever Getting Rid of Me" in disbelief, shock and horror.
It made me appreciate Christopher Fitzgerald's brilliance even more. Nik should honestly be replaced immediately.
(hopefully this isn't too negative and Patti Murin won't come after me, but I am only speaking the truth)
It looks like Jennifer Nettles' upcoming days off have changed. It's now November 11th through 13th, not November 1st through 6th, according to Telecharge.
Jack McBrayer can’t sing for sh!t either yet I kinda loved his Ogie in the London production. His quirky humor and funny portrayal made up for his inability to sing though, but it sounds like Nik doesn’t even do that, oh dear, lol! Chris Fitzgerald is a hard act to follow though.
