Anthony- Did you see all the names being bounced around for consideration on the boards or otherwise? If so-what are your thoughts about future actors in the show or people that were named as possibilities in case the original cast was unavailable?
IE: the popstar rumors (JT, clay, xtina, etc...) and movie star rumors (not that you and Taye aren't famous already!)
Do you feel that it lessens the experience because some people can't separate the personality from the performance?
Also-thanks for participating in just about every major seminal artistic event in my life that I didn't work on myself(Adventures..., Dazed..., Rent, etc...)
Molly, Anthony was in two Broadway shows at a very young age. He mentioned one a few posts earlier, The Little Prince and the Aviator which never actually opened, when he was 10. And then Precious Sons when he was 14.
What was the wildest suggestion for the RENT movie you have heard?
For me, I was reading a message board on IMDB. Someone suggested Kate Winselt as Mimi. I was just shocked. Maybe it was someone who doesnt know the show *hopes*.
I want to write music. I want to sit down right now at my piano and write a song that people will listen to and remember and do the same thing every morning...for the rest of my life. - Jonathan Larson. Tick, Tick...BOOM!
haha. That's the funniest thing I've heard in a while, TGIF. I adore Kate Winslet, but somehow I can't quite picture her as Mimi. I would cringe if Justin Timberlake and J.Lo were in it, I've heard those two names mentioned.
Aaaanyways. In response to your asking what the board members think of your answers? It's kind of amazing to me that you put real thought into bucketloads (Ha, bucketloads) of questions you're getting every day. Lord knows you don't have to pay any attention to us at all, but you're showing us all how thoughtful and intelligent you really are, and I'm sure everyone appreciates it.
Good luck in Seattle, this weekend. I'll be there in spirit!...and my friend gets to go... Sigh, stupid real life.
Hey! Speaking of LSOH... Did you see the Broadway production at all? Did Hunter Foster (or Jonathan Rayson or Joey Fatone) inspire any of your acting choices?
Anyways, as I was saying... I'm going to bring up one of your older answers. I think it's really interesting that Mark's the best character you've ever played, especially since you've had an interesting and varied career since then. I was wondering.. exactly why. Mark seems like a fairly static character to me (or am I wrong? I think that he doesn't change much during the course of the show, at least compared to other characters.) I understand that working with Jonathan and then that tragedy that occurred must have made it SUCH a powerful piece to perform, but do you also think that the chracter itself contributed to your love of performing him?
If that made sense.
*salute*
Thanks.

Ha! If mark was changed to a female what would her name be? Marqette? Mary? Masella?

Well in La Bohome the character's name was Marcello The "a" would make it femine, yah? ohhhhhhhhhh, I have another question (but only if you have time) have you ever seen the Forbidden Broadway Rent spoofs? if so, what did you think?
ahh! thats what i meant to type bwaystar! (Marcella)

Another one I thought was unbelievable was Jaques from the latest Real World as Collins.

Oh WOW! This is truly awesome of you, Anthony. Oddly enough, I was frolicking on the streets of NYC seeing RENT yesterday, and just now saw this thread. I'm Heather, by the way, and I'm 18 - but a very oldschool RENT fan - back to the age of 11. I live in Altoona, PA - and you have no idea where that is. Woo.
I was thrilled to read all this news about the movie and whatnot, and I thank you so much for answering questions and being so amazing. Nothing but love, seriously.
My question(s): What's your favorite song from RENT? Why?
And uhm, any idea how the Contact scene in the movie is going to go?
Thank you so, so much.

I'm totally late to this thread but just wanted to welcome you here Anthony. I think it's awesome that you've been answering all of the questions thrown at you with such thought and sincerity.
I must have seen you at least 25 times in Rent and you will forever and always be my favorite Mark. I am so excited that you'll be involved in the movie.
Thanks again! :)

the whole "scooter girl" thing as Maureen (even though I believe it was for the show, not movie) was pretty freaky
I also read awhile back (when Spike Lee had the project) that Brittany Murphy was cast (I'm guessing as Maureen)...that was a little off, she kinda reminds me of an epilectic off their seizure medications (no offense to epileptic) with her facial expressions and akward body movements.
Honestly anyone from reality television's involvement in this project scares me

I'll have to second and third and tenth what everyone else is saying: you've been promoted to the top of my amazing people list for finding it in you, between two shows per day and the rest of life as it comes, to answer all the questions that we've asked of you. Many of your replies have left me even more excited for the movie, and most have given me a warm, fuzzy feeling that makes me wonder how many days are left before the start of Summer Stage.
Oh, and you're giving me something to talk and talk and talk to my friends about. You and your news have become constants in our conversation, as weird as that may be.
Have a blast tonight, Anthony and everyone else here. I'm off to collect excessive ammounts of candy and pretend that my Algebra homework doesn't exist. Adios!

Kind of glad about. I don't know how that would be tackled.

In the Chbosky screenplay it's done as a scene in a club where Angel gets up and sings like at a karaoke kind of thing...that could have been changed though.

Angel just sings the song? Thats kinda weird. Maybe i am just picturing it wrong.

Yeah, it actually works really well...I hope they leave it in, because it's really one of the first indications we get that Angel's not going to get better--there are also a lot more scenes before Angel dies, unlike in the show.
