Endured this tonight...oh brother...
Probably the worst directed show I have ever seen in my life.
The staging and lighting is terrible. The raised section centre stage ruins the entire show just for a 10 second moment in act 2 that looks like absolute **** anyways. There is a blob that hangs in the centre of the stage all night obscuring the projections on the back wall and has no purpose what so ever and suddenly disappears at the end of act 2 after ruining the projections the whole night.
The choreography is a joke. The dancers spend more time entering and exiting the stage moving props or hold up bricks or just standing there to make up numbers, than they do actually dancing. You can feel them dying inside every time they have to walk on that stage.
In fact it should be renamed The Prince of Standing, because that is literally all that happens for the entire show. No one moves, there is no drama what so ever. Everything that happens happens with no reaction at all from anyone, they all just stand there.
Except of course for when they are rolling across the stage...oh dear God the endless rolling...MAKE IT STOP!
While they have done a good job getting the story more streamlined for those who don't know it (apart from the burning bush moment which is like WTF?) but the book is pretty terrible and it is flat boring ballads for nearly 3 hours.
On the plus side, some of the music IS gorgeous and the cast are really on point vocally. But Holy Moses get an actual director in there to rip out the hideous staging and hanging blob. Get the props on some rails. Do some decent projections on the back wall and stage and FFS get that great cast moving occasionally!
ABSOLUTE M.E.S.S!

Okay, I do love what they did with the bush. That looks really cool. But, why are the photos from the same scenes over and over again?

I’m actually liking what I’ve seen so far. The brief glimpse of the stage and the pyrotechnic effects look impressive to me in the recent video on the shows YouTube channel.
Any word on a cast album yet? It looked like they may have been recording an album in that same video but there hasn’t been any confirmation as far as I know.

Does anyone know if they've made any significant changes during previews? Tuesday is opening night.

It was just more disappointing than anything else. There is a really good show in there somewhere, but it so obviously needs a fresh set of eyes to fix it as it has some fantastic elements it just doesn't come together properly. Some songs need to be dropped and staging re-thought and it'd be great. The cast are all excellent.

I guess Schwartz has never really left Godspell and the physical theatre of the early 1970's behind.

The burning bush 'moment' is certainly stolen from various productions and even the film version of Godspell.

Posted: 2/25/20 at 1:56pmIt’s funny how the projections for Moses’s nightmare (All I’ve ever Wanted) and the bush scene look incredible while others, such as Moses and Ramses’ home, look completely lazy with lack of environment.

I'm just glad it's finally on stage. I want a cast album yesterday.

Sounds like the Variety review. See image below.
"Set designer Kevin Depinet hangs huge, dangling curtains stretching out from across the stage to beyond the proscenium arch, wrapping the sides of the cavernous auditorium."

I know. It’s better than nothing. I’ll see it on Broadway no matter what the reviews are.

I know, right? Someone even compared it to Vegas. Lion King is, Aladdin is, Jersey Boys is. This is def. not Vegas.
I watche the clip again and the second half of Deliver Us isn’t actually bad and I love love the ending shot. But the beginning of that clip is so frustrating. The movie literally gives you the epic scale of this staging on a silver platter. Les Miz this! Give us harshness, sweat and blood.
