This is victim shaming. Taking any focus away from how disgusting this action is and trying to pass it off on the victim who had their photos distributed without consent is just morally repugnant."
It isn't victim shaming, it's common sense. If you share a pic of yourself, it almost surely will get shared. I've shared naked pics of myself, I'm guessing many of us have. The first thing you realize when you send such a pic is that you no longer have control of the image. You've given up your control of the image by giving it away. You've got to own that. I do.
The guy's a creep for doing this. I've never said he was a great guy. But it isn't any kind of assault. The women made a bad decision, he made a bad decision, but nothing was hurt other than egos unless you're being very melodramatic.

People don’t send pictures like that to others, believing that they will get shared. ESPECIALLY without consent. That is disgusting. There are laws about this sort of thing.
Who asked for this anyways? No one? Okay. To fill that theater up 8 times a week is going to be quite challenging for a re imagining of such a classic show. "There are very few musicals that were written 60 years ago that feel like they were created this morning," added the producer. "This is that show."
Of course there were actual actors better for the role. I think they chose him due to him being controversial. The director does like edgy. Ugh.

Embracing your sexuality isn't a 'bad decision'. People should be able to share themselves how they choose consensually without the fear of being targeted by a group of people such as the men involved in this case. What the women here did they did in the comfort of their own bodies, not knowing that the men they were sharing their bodies with had ulterior motives. Trying to pass the blame on them because of "common sense" doesn't pick away that this is disgusting behavior and should be considered criminal. If you can acknowledge he was a creep then you can respect other people's disgust in this and stop accusing others of being 'melodramatic'. Assault doesn't always come in physical forms, especially in the digital age.

I'm not sure there are any laws about this sort of thing. Want to quote a legal code to me. When you send a pic you give it away. It's just that simple. You can't count on the idea that no one other than the recipient will see it ever. It is incredibly childish to think otherwise.
And, AGAIN, he's a jerk. I'm not defending him. I'm saying this isn't nearly the big issue you and others are making it out to be.
Hey Joevitus, there are a lot of strong women on this board, and good men as well that understand the victim was the female who trusted her boyfriend (who took the photos) to keep them private and not share them. Sharing other photos of another woman in the ballet company (without her knowledge) is also despicable and illegal. That is why the woman has a valid case. If you try defending this kind of behavior, you will be shut down by many, many kick ass feminists on this board. You are wrong here.

Most Broadway theatres have over 1,000 seats. The Broadway Theatre has over 1,700, and is one of the 10 biggest theatres on the Great White Way. So no pressure...
The Broadway has hosted several big revivals in recent years, but Fiddler on The Roof and Miss Saigon had fairly limited runs and Cinderella was kept afloat through stunt casting. I’m not sure if West Side Story can last there, and I’m interested to see how the movie affects it, particularly as both versions share 4 cast members...

It's a bunch of posturing nonsense. I'm a good man, and a gay man, and I know common sense. When I share a pic, I give up my ability to control it. So do you. If you think otherwise, you will suffer again and again and again.
Please show me the legal statues saying this is a crime, not just cruddy behavior. You can respond however you want (attacking me doesn't show your strength, rather your weakness). I will respond with reason.

I have a feeling this revival will close before the movie premieres on December 2020.

At the moment 41 states have laws on revenge porn, with New York eyeing to make it illegal by next year which you can read about in the above link. I hope you learn the definition of consent and how it applies to people in these scenarios and the importance of not shaming people for how they choose to share their bodies in private.

This about sums it up."
+1 on this. I bet if the director or any of the lead producers were female, they would not have hired Ramasar.
The videos and photos were taken without her consent or knowledge. But, yes, keep calling yourself a good man. Anyone who has to repeatedly state that clearly is not.
I am a good man. If the pictures and videos were taken without her consent, that's an entirely different story. What I read in the Times did not mention that.
Funny that you think you're a better person than me while making empty accusations of me.
If she didn't agree to the pictures or videos being taken, that's an entirely different situation. And, yes, a legally actionable one. What I'd read led me to think the pictures/videos were given/allowed to be taken freely. If I'm wrong about the facts, I own that I'm wrong. But it's a genuine misunderstanding on my part, not a defense of assault (it's still not assault, but it's still illegal and morally reprehensible).
I’m getting CAROUSEL revival vibes from this production already...and not in a good way."
I really liked the CAROUSEL production last year. I didn't think that production was miscast (this production was able to get all 4 leads Tony nominated!) Peck's choreography was amazing too (won the Tony!)
I think the issue a lot of people had with Carousel was with the direction.
Is anyone familiar with the WSS choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. From IBDB, it looks like this will be her first time as a choreographer on Broadway.

“Waterbury and Finlay met at NYC Ballet—she was a student and he was a principal—and had been dating for a year. According to the lawsuit, Waterbury found out on May 15 of this year that Finlay "had been secretly recording and saving explicit photographs and videos of her while she was without clothing and/or while the two were engaged in sexual activities." She also discovered that they had been shared with many other people. The lawsuit maintains that Waterbury never consented to any of the photographs.”
Waterbury, a fashion model and former student at the School of American Ballet, the associate school of the New York City Ballet, said her former boyfriend, dancer Chase Finlay, secretly filmed and photographed her nude or during sex.

I'm making zero assumptions that I'm a better person, my only point is that I'm one who understands the meaning of consent. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing. You asked for proof on the illegality of this situation, which I provided, and now you're trying to insinuate I'm implying you're a bad person. You've acknowledged his behavior was disgusting so nitpicking at the situation is only escalating this more than it needed to. Passing any blame or shame on the women in this scenario was wrong of you.
The confusion is because Chase Findlay was the person who shared non-consensual photos and videos, not Ramasar. Findlay's alleged offense is significantly more serious than Ramasar's.
It isn't wrong for me to have done that. Someone being a cretin (which I took him to be) isn't the same as being a criminal. It's an important distinction to make. Since he actually violated the law, and didn't just act abominably, it's an entirely different situation than what I imagined.
And yes, I agree he should be kept out of shows now that I know the actual situation.
