Just curious.
Suicide?
Boycott?
Start a petition?
Or just have a plain old fashioned BWW meltdown?
Nothing. After she lost for Sweeney Todd to what's-her-name, I realized the Tonys mean nothing.Unless of course she wins...

I'll be upset.
This is a non-issue...she WILL win this award.
I'll get my snacks and drinks ready, and watch all the fireworks on this board.
You know, I wouldn't be too upset.
I mean, Patti deserves this award, and there is something wrong with the Tonys if she doesn't win it.
However, the rest of the candidates gave solid performances, so it wouldn't be so bad if she lost...

I'm not as emotionally invested as I was in wanting Raul to win last year, so I'll just go on with my life.
It would be a pretty big shock if she didn't though.

IF she doesn't win, I'm voting for McCain.
Remember the Russian cubicle meltdown posted on the off-topic not too long ago? Something like that, followed by strapping dynamite to my body and immolating myself in front of the Virgin Megastore in Times Square.
Bystanders will remark in shock: "His final words were "Goodbye to blueberry pie...what the f**k does that mean?"
Laugh
Who cares! Winning or losing the Tony doesn't add or take away anything from the amazing performance she gives 8 times a week. It also will never change my memories of watching a truly unforgettable night at the theatre.

Take Angela Lansbury hostage.
I'll be shocked. But I guess I'll be happy for a fat girl winning the Tony OVER her.
Oh wait....that was LAST TIME someone playing Rose should have won...

I gave up caring about the Tonys (or any awards shows) long ago. It's all business, politics, and popularity. There are so many memorable performances to savor. Why are we so obsessed with "the best?" I hate that choosing a winner makes all the others losers. They aren't. I'll remember both Patti LuPone's and Jenna Russell's performances for years to come. (I haven't seen South Pacific yet).
I'll watch the Tonys to see the musical numbers and stay on top of what's happening. But I'm not invested in the least in who wins. I'd much rather see a two-hour variety show celebrating what's currently on the B'way stage than a boring awards ceremony filled with speeches that thank a list of people no one knows or cares about.
Whoopie should be fun, though.
I think the better question is "What will Raul do if he DOES win?"
RAUL: I accept your apology. Thanks.
I'll fry an egg on Pal Joey's head.
But what will Patti do if she doesn't get it?
I imagine something reminiscent of the gym scene in the movie Carrie..

I'd be sad for her, but happy that the CD will be out in August and that her amazing performance will be forever enshrined. Hopefully we'll get a Rose's Turn on the Tonys!
Life will go on for everyone, regardless.

I'm hoping it goes to either Patti, Kerry, or Jenna, so I won't be devastated, but I will be surprised.
I enjoy everyone nominated this season, so I will happy regardless of what happens.
