So, I was casted as Morticia for local church place and I want to be more in character so I wanted to ask what accent does she have? And whatever it is, how can I try it out? I've never really done any accents and the ones i've "tried" aren't good
How can I get better?
I can’t remember if she has an accent in the old TV show, but in the 90s films, Angelica Houston doesn’t use an accent. And I don’t recall Brooke Shields doing an accent when I saw it on Broadway (I do remember her terrible acting, unfortunately).

Pssst... you don't get "casted", you get "cast"

This is the type of thing to ask the director. See what they envision for the piece.
Don’t imitate. Ask your director, not random problem on a forum.
And if your director sucks there are enough videos online.
I don’t think any, including Brooke, used an accent.

Why would Morticia have an accent? In none of the previous representations of the character had there ever been a distinct accent.

Hysterical statement and true. Never understood her talentless fame.
Morticia doesn’t have an accent but Bebe spoke and sang with a sort of patrician upper-class East Coast inflection. I think a lot of that has rubbed off on the character.
Important to remember: an accent isn't a character...its geography. Too many young actors confuse the two. And if upu aren't good at accent, your audience cant understand you .
But everyone else is right...she doesn't have an accent normally and you should discuss with your director.
