Now that SOM was a rating smash attention will be turned to their next live broadcast:
The high ratings will likely open the door for Meron and Zadan to produce future live television broadcasts of Broadway musicals. "It's one big experiment," Zadan recently told Playbill.com. "We're very aware of the fact that if it succeeds, it will prompt the network to ask us about doing it again. It could be the beginning of something new in terms of bringing theatre to America on TV. Once we see the ratings, our wish list will come out of our pockets." I'd imagine Annie is out since the new movie is coming out in December.
The Music Man, Gypsy, and Bye Bye Birdie have all had TV adaptations (albeit not "live").
I've heard a lot of people mention Fiddler.
I would love to see them do more R&H, specifically The King and I.
