"Aida" starring Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudson, and Chris Pine.
West Side Story would be a good show to do.

The King And I with Kelly Clarkson as Anna and Lea Salonga as Lady Thiang.

They'll probably have to do something really content free, in order to appeal to the cutesy family-goo demographic that made last night's debacle such a ratings success. I think WEST SIDE STORY would be too dark.
The King & I Starring Kate Winslet, Ben Kingsley, & Lea Salonga!
Honestly, I'd be fine with just about anything except Annie Get Your Gun or Camelot. If they got a great choreographer, Brigadoon would be nice to see.

Doesn't Zadan and Meron own the television rights for Peter Pan? I'd love that too.

I think King and I would be perfect as noted earlier. Or Peter Pan.
I think having kids in the show is a plus. i think Music Man would work also but they just did TV version not that long ago.
There are a lot of shows that I would personally love to see but if they are looking at Family entertainment, you need to appeal to the family as a whole. Say, how about Kinky Boots...JUST KIDDING. LOL

The problem that I have with Peter Pan is that it is largely a children's show. The over 18 audience don't usually watch a grown woman acting like a teenage boy without children present. And I'm wondering if today's kids would appreciate the show seeing that it doesn't have any special effects that would equal the video games they play.
Big ratings doesn't mean peopled liked it. DVD sales will be more proof of that. Still, I'm glad it was a big hit (although I had tons of issues with it). I would love for them to do MY FAIR LADY, exactly as I saw it at Drury Lane in August 1959. The film didn't even come close. My most wanted since 1964. A definitive MFL.
Honestly, I'm not really feeling Peter Pan. I guess because it had been done multiple times with Mary Martin and you can find it on youtube and VHS copies. Not to mention Cathy Rigby just "retired" from touring the show.
How about if they open Spiderman in Vegas by then they can do Spiderman: Turn off the Dark: Live From Las Vegas? Then you don't need a star. Totally kidding. I probably wouldn't watch this.

The Wizard of Oz
Katy Perry as Dorothy
Clay Aiken as Scarecrow
Kris Allen as Tin Man
Scotty McCreery as the Lion
WEST SIDE STORY would be great, but it's too dark for the holiday season. GYPSY already has an awful TV movie, but it would be a chance to get some big names. I'm sure they would approach Katy Perry for Louise. But again, probably too dark for this type of event.
Maybe Jennifer Hudson can finally play Dorothy in The Wiz after she dropped out of Derek Wills' production last year.
But I do think the Wiz is a fantastic idea
Way too old for Dorothy, but she'd be a FIERCE Evillene.
Then they could also cast Audra, Patina, Patti Labelle, Heather Headley, Phylicia Rashad...??? Endless opportunities for a mindblowing production of The Wiz. So that's got my vote.
Edit: My friend just went on to cast it further with Willow Smith as Dorothy, Will as Uncle Henry, Jamie Foxx as the Wizard, Drake as the Scarecrow..

But who could sing "If You Believe"?
Because THE KING AND I is slated for a Lincoln Center revival next year (and will likely be telecast) I don't think we'll be seeing it given this kind of NBC treatment -- ditto SOUTH PACIFIC. If they want to go with another R&H title, OKLAHOMA! is probably their best bet.
PETER PAN, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, MY FAIR LADY and THE WIZ have all been announced at one time or another as being 'in the works' as TV musicals involving Meron and Zadan -- so it would seem natural that one of these would be in high consideration.
GREASE seems a natural as well, but they would have to do the 'school' version to pass muster with what is clearly going to be a 'family' target audience.
Taylor Swift in Grease
Anna Camp in Legally Blonde
Anna Kendrick in ANYTHING
What about a similar blend of Broadway, recording, and NBC stars for Wizard of Oz?
Ariana Grande as Dorothy
Jimmy Fallon as Scarecrow
Christian Borle as Tin Man
Sean Hayes as Cowardly Lion
Megan Hilty as Glinda
Laura Benanti as Wicked Witch
Bob Newhart as the Wizard
