I had heard OK had producers who wanted to move it, but I heard they were looking at proscenium houses to make something closer to THE GREAT COMET. Perhaps they needed more seats or were getting ahead of themselves and thinking about a tour. And perhaps that's changed.

TINA announced they were coming in 2019-20. So even if it does take the Lunt, there could be time for a limited-engagement of Girl From The North Country at the Lunt this spring. They could even kill the rear mezz and/or extend the stage out a bit, which would cut the seating capacity down to about 1,100. The Toronto engagement has 2,000-seats.
Why would Girl From The North Country take the Lunt if they have to get out by Fall 2019 for TINA??? That would make it incredibly hard for the show to even have the potential to recoup.

Its commercial transfer in the West End was only 12 weeks. I know nothing about the numbers, but it seems like it would have a play-sized budget. February/early March start date is still 6+ months before they'd have to be out, and then the physical production could go to Toronto. It doesn't seem destined to be a long-running juggernaut.
no one is naming any show that would make sense in the round. If there is any front-runner for Circle it is Oklahoma, it already has broadway producers attached and the run at St Anns was super sold out, demand, great reviews, immersive concept.
Carmen Jones was also staged immersively in the round and got love letters, notably a rave from Brantley for both the production and Anika's performance.
I do hope if it's really down to these two shows that Carmen Jones gets it. I thought it was a far superior production.
Carmen Jones got good reviews but didn't really take off in a way that screams "transfer this!" It's also not a particularly well-known musical property.
Just seems like a peculiar choice and an uphill battle from the start, barring some sort of big name attached as a performer or producer.
Oklahoma seems like a much more sensible choice, particularly coming off the heels of a run that was basically the it ticket in the city, and casting and concept that guarantee attention.

Asked my industry friend-agent for any buzz and he said an Oklahoma possible transfer has been discussed but nothing set yet and nothing about a Carmen Jones transfer has been discussed

I'm pushing for Oklahoma. Loved it at St. Anne's. Does anyone think that The Public would restage Girl From the North Country like they did with Fun Home? I haven't seen it, but from what I've heard it seems intimate enough that it could work in the space.

I think it would be amazing in the round, though they'd have to do some rethinking about the digital set. (Actually... it would be very cool if they used the back walls behind the seats for that, the way OOTI continued the immersive set into that space with the clotheslines.)
I loved Oklahoma! at St. Ann's and I have a hard time imaging it working in any other space, even CITS. At St. Ann's, they built the space in a big wooden box in the middle of the warehouse. I'm having a hard time imaging that happening in any other non-modular theatre space. However, I thought it was phenomenal and one of the best musicals of the year.
The Girl From the North Country would work better for me in the round actually. The show feels both expansive and intimate at the same time and would work perfectly in a more immersive space. Also, the digital sets and screens should go because they were really pretty ugly and thankfully CITS wouldn't have a place for them.
Carmen Jones was enjoyable, but the show is pretty stupid and fluffy and Doyle's staging was less than perfect. It was nice to see in an off Broadway house, but it was not Broadway quality.
At least if OKLAHOMA arrives, we'll get another musical revival. DREAMGIRLS, SWEET CHARITY, SECRET GARDEN all seem DOA.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I'm still thinking about the brilliance of "Sweet Charity" - so desperately wish they could transfer to the Circle. It would work so well there. It seems unlikely at this point, but just the new finale alone shakes me to my core. THAT is what a revival is all about.
They/them.

I don't understand why the producers of "The Girl From North Country" would pass the Circle in the Square for the Lunt. The Circle can work as a proscenium house or a thrust stage, and the show could easily work in that venue without too much re-staging or thought. And it if turns out to be a hit, they could extend pass 6 months.
I saw School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play today and couldn't help but think how effectively it could be re-staged to be in the round and how it would fit beautifully at a small house like CITS. I have no clue if they're even contemplating a transfer, but it passed through my mind as something that might work well.
