He works on stage in Chicago every few years or so. Just last season he was in the (at one time Broadway bound) Tracy Letts play The Minutes.

Looks like his acting career stopped in 2010?

The last time I saw him was in Detroit by Lisa D'Amour with Laurie Metcalf at Steppenwolf in Chicago in 2010.

I feel like I see him quite often in guest starring roles on TV.

His bio for The Minutes (I don't have it with me, so this is just from memory) referenced something about returning to acting after time off because of a lawsuit of some sort, I think involving someone allegedly taking his earnings? I remember reading it and commenting to a friend that that isn't really the sort of thing I would want to put in a Playbill bio, but to each their own.

This was his bio in the program for The Minutes
Kevin Anderson (Mr. Breeding) has been in a variety of different productions around the world encompassing leading roles in approximately 30 film and cable television productions, 2 network TV shows, Broadway and West End musicals, and dramatic plays from Goodman and Steppenwolf here in Chicago, to Broadway and Off-Broadway, the West End in London, Dublin, and many other regional theatre. He has been nominated for Tony, Golden Globe, and Outer Critics Circle Awards, and won an Outer Critics Circle Awards, and won an Outer Critics Circle, a Drama Desk, and Theatre World Award along with a Jeff here in Chicago and a Viewers for Quality Television Best Actor Award. Kevin has been off the show biz radar the last handful of years as he has been on a self-imposed “acting fast.” He has been embroiled in a legal battle fighting for his literal economic survival regarding the alleged mismanagement of his financial accounts. In 2014, unable to afford legal advocacy and representing himself pro se, he filed a lawsuit and eventually defeated a motion to dismiss against two large New York City law firms. These claims are currently being litigated and hopefully soon resolved in the Southern District of New York. This whole event, although very trying and difficult, has altered his world view and brought him to a deeper, more conscious place in his life and work. It has been an educational and galvanizing experience which he is certain will ignite and inspire the next stage of his career. As always, he is so grateful to Steppenwolf for their support and for providing him with this wonderful opportunity to reintroduce himself to the Chicago theatre community after a long absence.

Thank you posting that Ravenclaw. I was vaguely aware that he had problems with representation and finances in the past, and I hope he appears on a NY stage soon.

Wow. Very ballsy and interesting, don't know about appropriate. Did his old pal LuPone advise him on this one?

I worked with Kevin twenty years ago. He's a wonderful guy, total salt of the earth, and a terrific actor. He should have won the Tony for Death of a Salesman. We didn't keep in touch and I'm sorry to learn of his financial troubles, but I'm glad to see that he's slowly rebuilding his career. He's had some major setbacks in his life -- right after he and LuPone got fired from Sunset, he had a serious motorcycle accident that almost killed him and required years for full recovery. He's been through a lot, but he's a fighter. I hope we keep seeing more from him.
