I'm obsessed with Joanna Gleason's performance in Into the Woods. Completely Tony worthy to me. Why do you think it should have gone to Patti? Just curious.
Have you heard Patti in Anything Goes? FanF*CKingtastic. She does a delicious job reinventing a role so attached to Merman. Her singing is delcious and she's this perfect blend of sexy and sassy.
And, in case you haven't noticed, I'm rather attached to Ms. LuPone.
Oh, and I forgot Ragtime, it definitely deserved the Best Musical Tony. And West Side Story to Music Man.
I FORGOT THE BIGGEST ONE!!!!
"TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA" OVER "FOLLIES"...
I MEAN... COME ON!
I also think Elisabeth Withers-Mendes warranted the Featured Actress award last year over Beth Leavel (although I thought Beth was wonderful.)
Amen, Amen, Amen!!!
Elisabeth had so much more to work with and accomplish with the character of Shug. And she did it brilliantly. Beth was good but I really can't understand why she got that Tony over Elisabeth. Beth gave a show, Elisabeth went to work.

Follies not winning Best musical is like The Brinks robbery of awards
Follies for not getting it
Two Gentlemen for getting it
Yes I have heard Ms. Lupone on the Anything Goes recording. I'm not a big fan of her on it, primarily because I can't understand a single word on the title track and "Friendship".
Wicked to Avenue Q
Don't Kill Me...
Follies and Ragtime not winning best musicals are the ultimate robs ever.
Maybe Patti not winning had something to do with not being able to understand a word she said. I'm just judging form that Tony performance. Patti is fantastic though.

I agree with many of the above postings however I wish to add this:
Craig Bierko to Brian Stokes Mitchell (2000)
I saw both Craig Bierko and Brian Stokes Mitchell and while I thought Brian Stokes Mitchell was bad Bierko was even worse.
I too think that Idina was more deserving than Tonya Pinkins (I do lover her though).
I also feel that Spamalot losing to DRS or Light in the Piazza was unforgivable.
It's Patti (that's just a hang up I have). And yeah, her diction was bad but god that voice was so heavenly that I'm more than prepared to forgive her.
And also, Reno is a much more leading role than The Baker's Wife. The Baker's Wife really has only two songs, I think The Witch is more of a leading role in ITW. I think it should've gone as it went at the Drama Desks, Joanna with Best Featured and Patti with Best Leading.
Caroline to Ave. Q. Love Ave. Q, but Caroline is just so damn good.
edited - wrong thread.
IMO.... "Caroline or Change" should have taken Best Musical and either Tonya Pinkins or Kristin Chenoweth should have taken Best Actress in a Musical.
Last year, I really wanted "The Color Purple" or "Drowsy Chaperone" to win. "Chaperone" was just too much fun and "..Purple" just felt like a nice old fashioned musical to me. It made me think about "Purlie". I did not see "Jersey Boys" and may never see it. I grew up on Frankie Valli's music and I don't really care for "jukebox" musicals (Some argue that it really isn't one). I also think Bob Martin was robbed.
Damn I feel embarrassed not spelling Patti's name right. I'm out of it today. Anyway, Patti is absolutely phenomenal in that Tony performance and does do sassy and classy at the same time. Updated On: 3/11/07 at 06:14 PM

Maria Friedman not even receiving a nomination last season is UNFORGIVABLE in my opinion. It was a tough year, but when you give a slot to Chita Rivera for playing HERSELF in a MUSICAL REVUE...I...I'm sorry...I can't deal with it. She sould have at least been nominated....
Biggest acting rob I've seen since I startyed watching the Tonys nearly a decade ago.
Wait a sec... let me put on the flame retardent suit.
Okay.....
PACIFIC OVERTURES LOSING TO CHORUS LINE FOR BEST SCORE???
One of the most IDIOTIC awards ever.
I still say it, Mano and Patti for Sweeney, as well as the revival. As much as I liked Michael, I think they deserved Tonys without a doubt. They were both revelations in their parts. I was shocked when they lost (moreso with Patti).
