Who are your favorite REAL broadway producers?

The title says it all

I think my top three are Stacey Mindich, Darryl Roth and Seth Greenleaf.

I want to add Scott Rudin to my list but I still have really bitter feelings about Shuffle Along's closing. Hal Prince from yesteryears. The Public counts as a producer, right? They've consistently been giving us good and daring shows for a long time.

The late Alexander H. Cohen, for producing a little something called DEAR WORLD; which I saw as a thirteen year old in January 1969, and just loved.

Rudin. I wish every theater would impose his militant house food/beverage/conduct policies, lol.

Rudin but the whole Shuffle along thing still annoys me but I think he is running his shows the right way. I also have genuine respect for Stacey Mindich, The Public, Barbara Whitman and Jordan Roth. oh and the Weissler's

I think Cody Lassen is a great guy, but I may be biased as I am a pal of his...he was the man behind INDECENT, and this season, one of the men of THE BAND'S VISIT.

I also think great things have come out of the Public Theater and A.R.T. Lincoln Center counts too, right?

How in the world did I forget the Prince of Broadway himself?! Shame on me...

"he was the man behind INDECENT"

Considering that two women were the laboring oar in getting it produced, that strikes me as a particularly ill-fitting description.

I meant financially, Hogan. I am well aware that Vogel and Taichman were the artistic driving forces behind the production, and was particularly thrilled when the latter won her Tony.

I hope you were not purposely nitpicking, as I myself am a woman in the industry and understand the implications of such language.

I had not heard of Ms. McCann or Daryl's involvement in extending the show. Very well, I plead ignorance.

Scott Rudin... say what you will about the man, but he knows how to put on a damn good show.

@Ado I was not nitpicking at all, but the show never would have happened had it not been for Daryl Roth and Liz McCann, and it would have closed unceremoniously had it not been for Roth's monumental decision to keep it running. You twice mentioned men, and while I don't know the ins and outs of The Band's Visit, I do know that in this male dominated world, these two women, among others, have made a major mark, over extraordinary careers. I think that needs to be celebrated, and I hope you agree.

I think David Merrick was pretty interesting...enough so that his unauthorized biography was titled, David Merrick: The Abominable Showman.
