Call me crazy, but reviews don't mean a damn thing to me nor any other creative team. All that matters to me is that I like the show, and all that matters to the creative team is that their show is making money. Sure, do creative like good reviews... absolutely, but haven't we seen critics rave a bout garbage theatre that makes no money and no one else likes, as well as critics pan genius that audiences love. If I'm not mistaken, critics weren't too hot about Wicked, but with the millions of fans and $$$$ I don't think the creative team really gives a sh*t. Not to mention that critics have raved about plenty of awful productions that didn't seem to be popular or the cash count.
Oh, my.
AndAllThatJazz22, while I do agree with you. I do think that your opening up a can of worms by creating this thread.
Why do all the ROA fans seem to think that reviews make their show 'God'
Why do all the ROA detractors use such exaggerated generalized hyperbole?
Call me crazy, but reviews don't mean a damn thing to me nor any other creative team.
Ok then...crazy.
Why do I get the feeling that a fight about ROA will erupt at least three times a week until the Tony Awards are announced (and ROA walks away empty-handed)?
Just in case you haven't been reading this board since the inception of ROA, allthatjazz, the enthusiasm of its fans is not only because the show's so good, but in defense of the blatant vitriol for the show and vicious personal attacks against the fans, posted here by those who didn't like it (whether they saw it or not). Many of us took exception to being called dregs of the earth.
We are totally justified, in my opinion.

"We" ?
What are you, a CULT? Are you the new Rep for all ROA fans?
Get a life! Get a hobby! You're boring and that bird is ugly.
Sounds like someone's trying to get banned again.
Spazz square, you're an idiot. And I'm on my way out to the gardens today. What are you doing, registering for kindergarten with mommy?
Oh, he's just up to his same sh*t-stirring tricks again. He'll play any side of the fence to incite animosity.

I find the OP of this thread to be blasphemous. IN THE NAME OF G-D, MODS, I DEMAND YOU DELETE THIS THREAD!

SO we should avoid having a legit discussion because we're scared of the ROA fans. I'm telling you, I really like the Wicked fangirls now.
MisterMatt, have you seen the show yet?
I agree with the original poster.
Also, I hope your Tony predictions come true WickedRocks.

I'm honestly so sick of this ROA/9 to 5 board war. Neither is "God" because of reviews. ROA got better reviews than 9 to 5, and a Tony nomination. Both shows have both huge fans and detractors. Both are big crowd-pleasers. Just stop the stupid three-a-day threads already. They're annoying, and nobody's making any points other than "well, your show sucks".

There has been quite a bit of animosity directed towards those who've enjoyed the show, from one person in particular, who called those who enjoyed it the dregs of the Earth. Then, given the chance to clarify his obnoxious statement, he stood by it. Snobbery at its finest.
(And for the record, I have no opinion on ROA yet, as I have to see it, but will before the Tonys, now that it's a Best Musical nominee)
I stick by everything I said about ROA and its fans. adamgreer, DO NOT even waste your time or money with this show. Go see N2N again...a much better use of your time.
I still find that statement incredibly snobbish.
I'm sure there are plenty of intelligent, smart people who have enjoyed Rock of Ages. To say they're all the dregs of the Earth is ridiculous and makes you come off like a haughty, stuck-up, snob.
"Call me crazy, but reviews don't mean a damn thing to me nor any other creative team."
HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! This is the stupidest statement. Please, please, go ask the Impressionism creative team if they wished they had gotten good reviews. Please, go ask.
That's fine. You're entitled to your opinion and I guess I am a snob in some ways.
Knowing the type of person you are though, adamgreer, I do not think you will enjoy ROA at all. I look forward to reading your thoughts if and when you decide to see it.
MisterMatt, have you seen the show yet?
Why? What does it have to do with my post? But you do agree that reviews mean nothing to every creative team of every show?
Anyway, I've been searching for the post where anyone has claimed Rock of Ages is "God" because of its reviews or even inferred anything of the sort. But if anyone would like to post the link, I think we'd all be grateful so we can properly respond to the topic.
MisterMatt, you just seem to stick up for ROA a lot, even though you haven't seen it...

Every time I open an AndAllThatJazz thread, I expect idiocy. This is worse than that "Leave Miss California Alooooooone!" thread he made where he compared homosexuality to crack cocaine usage. And lest we forget his "Slap in the Face to Chicago Fans" thread.
This is to be expected from the poster formerly known as cartagena, who blew up in a hilariously offensive meltdown. (Yup, that's him.)

It's not about sticking up for Rock of Ages. It's about challenging bigoted remarks and baseless claims. And occasionally, unprovoked personal attacks on other people. My remarks on this thread are similar to those who claim Dolly is the recipient of heaps of abuse which can't seem to be found, either. If you actually read my posts, I've stated that I haven't seen the show and I have never offered an opinion on it nor have I claimed to do either. I will admit that when elitist bullies start gang-bashing a show and anyone who likes it, even going so far as to say they are beneath them, it only makes the show that much more appealing to me. I may not be a fan of Rock of Ages yet, but I do like to root for the underdog sometimes. And this show has many aspects that appeal to me, especially in the genre and the concept, which like it or not, is unique to Broadway. If that makes me a dreg of the earth in your eyes, then I'm perfectly ok with that.
Thanks for the clarification.

WAT, for someone who pitches a fit whenever someone makes fun of you for liking a show they didn't and constantly victimizes himself, I find your behavior in this thread so fascinating.
