Its one of our great plays

I believe Sally Field just did a reading of it for producers. I forget who else was in the cast though.

I'm ready for this, as well as Other Desert Cities and Clybourne Park.
I need to see Marín Ireland do this play.
I'd be very excited, but worry if lightning could strike twice....and the film didn't do it any favors.
Laurie Metcalf as Violet. My only request.

It’s a brilliant play on its own. I read it before I saw it on Broadway, and was entranced. It’s basically up to the actors to not screw it up.
That said, it requires a large-cast and is three hours long. I wonder if today’s Broadway economics could handle it.
I second Laurie Metcalf as Violet.
I saw the the OBC in the second week of previews so I got to see Dennis Letts As Beverly. I loved Amy Morton but I remember thinking I would love to have seen Metcalf in the role. It would be great to see her as Violet.

Is the rumored sally field revival still happening?

I had read that Sally Field, Ann Dowd, Sally Murphy and Bradley Whitford all were part of the reading directed by David Cromer.

Could see this going into the Schoenfeld before Notebook comes in
The only part I know for sure is that Field “decided not” to go further with the potential revival. Don’t know any other details aside from that.
Another hands up here for Metcalf tho!! Would be something she could do in her sleep, but would be amazing.

Open ended run or probably not going to be worth it. Also for selfish reasons so I have more chances to see it.
Bradley Whitford is such a good casting for either Steve or Bill. I'd prefer to see him in the sleazy Steve role, and I'd dreamcast Richard Schiff as Bill, although they are both older than the written characters and read that way on stage. I think I'm okay with suspending disbelief for those actors.
I’d kill to see Sissy Spacek. I always felt the film should have gone to her.
