I am going to be in New York City in December and only have enough time and money for one Broadway show. I'm torn between Wicked and Bare. Which one would you recommend and why?

Posted: 9/28/04 at 10:54pmWell, first of all, bare is off-broadway, if that makes any difference to you. Second, I haven't seen either show, but if I had to choose between them just from the cast recordings(luckily, I'll get to see them both) I'd see bare. But what kind of show do you want? Wicked is big and flashy and bare is more intimate and emotional (on the whole, I'm not trying to bash either, just stating my impression, feel free to disagree.) Have you seen anything else? What kind of shows do you generally enjoy?

Why do we run our fingers through the flame?
Why do we leave our hands on the stove, although we know we're in for some pain?

Try Wicked - that show is a difficuly buy.
Bare is most likely cheaper.

Posted: 9/28/04 at 11:34pmDeffinately would have to say BARE have yet to see it.. and saw Wicked twice.... but that is only because BARE isn't opened yet... BARE overall seems to be a better choice.. not to mention Wicked is touring..... See BARE!!

Posted: 9/29/04 at 12:11amUm, it depends. If you want a fun show then I say Wicked. If you want to a GREAT show that takes you on am emotional rollercoaster and touches your heart, then BARE is the way to go.

I'd vote for Bare too. You'll get to see some incredibly talented young people, and you'll probably have much better seats (at a fraction of the price).

I guess I was one of the few that was very moved by Wicked...I guess you just have to relate. I'd go with that show...if only for the glorious performance of a certain Tony winner and the fantastic Jennifer Laura Thompson.
But enjoy whichever you choose.
