I always thought Sylvie Palladino was quite old...I'm sure I saw her as Donna in Mamma Mia. or does she just play more mature parts? I think Anthony Callea as Boq would be great, although I didn't see him in rent, so I'm not sure about his acting

I would rather see Mills in this, than Callea.. But i fear this maybe just another stunt cast production.. Now where does Bert fit into all of this?

I heard a rumour that Anthony Callea turned down the role of Boq. What amazes me about this is that the producers were actually wanting to cast not one but TWO previous Australian Idol contestants. What a disgrace.

Based on their current decisions I have put together a list of other B grade celebrities of the same standard of Rob Mills that they might also like to cast. Anything to get a bit of publicity right? Doesn't matter if they don't have any talent, as long as they have appeared in the Daily Telegraph on various occassions...

Daniel 'Saxon' Small from Big Brother
David Campbell (because he is in everything)
Matt Lee (because he is in every chrous of every musical ever put on in Australia)

The producers were also hoping for Shannon Nolls but his standard is a bit too high. In exchange they may look at casting whichever washed up celebrity is currently the flavour of the month just because they appeared on 'Dancing with the Stars'

Anthony Callea out, Adam Garcia in. Rob Guest is NOT the Wizard. He wasn't even asked. Amanda Harrison is the alternate Elphaba.

a girl called Peny Macnamee is nessa rose, dobson is dillamond, kirkpatrick is morrible, harrison is elphaba alternate and taking over after menzel, durak is galinda, callea turned boq down

LOL. The rumours are flying thick and fast now, can't wait till the true cast is revealed.

I know that gossip columns aren't an authoritative source of information but for what it's worth, according to the Herald Sun only yesterday, Rachael Beck, Rob Mills and Anthony Callea have signed, and Adam Garcia will be playing the 'male lead'. I also read in the same column earlier in the week that Jolene Anderson was offered a role, but turned it down because there'll be a TV show that traces rehearsals and opening night, and she thought that would be too intrusive. “This production will be a hybrid of the Broadway production, it will actually be bigger than Broadway physically, because we are playing a very big theatre.

“This will be a totally Australian cast, and I believe we have the talent here to do that.” “That will be a challenge, but I think by Christmas we will have a cast that will be fantastic.”

One of those rumours were that the original star of the show Idina Menzel, who created the role of Elphaba, would be coming to Australia to perform the role after a similar set-up was done for the London production, but Mr Frost was quick to put that particular rumour to bed.

I very much doubt Rachel Beck! who would she play? Lucy definately is Galinda! and as to Adam Garcia......

I saw him in London and he was dreadful! I am usually an Adam Garcia fan and have liked him in other shows but not this - it's out of his depth! He looks the part but there is not a lot of dancing for him, he vocally isn't strong enough nor are his acting skills! I saw him twice and both times he was weak and looked as tho he had no belief in himself! I would be very surprised if he agreed to do it, unless he wanted to come back to Oz to do a show! But there are much better people, for this role, out there!

Who has tickets so far!?!?!

Got two sets for two nights. Bloody hell, I hate how all these shows that open here have 80% of all the good seats unavailable on tickettek. I mean you can in theory only reserve so much for groups/promos etc. And being the impatient fool I am, I just cannot wait for them to release these seats whenever the heck it maybe.

Not to mention tickettek is absolutely hideous to work through to try and get decent seats. And I know for a fact those at the tickettek offices don't have any secret powers either. They are just as much slaves to the stupid algorithms for figuring out 'best seat' as much as we are.

Not to say Ticketmaster is anywhere as good. It is just as bad. At least at the Athenaeum Theatre whenever I go there, I have had the ability to pick and choose seats.

Ah, I'll stop complaining. I AM GOING TO SEE WICKED!!!!!!!!!!! TWICE!!!!!!!!!

Holy heck, I have turned into a fan girl. Somebody shoot me. Or give me a I heart Idina shirt.

And now for the scary news of the day, since nearly every older male star in the country has turned down the role of the Wizard, it would seem that Bert Newton will be confirmed in the role on Tuesday afternoon when the rest of the cast is announced.

ugh why couldn't this have opened when I was down there doing my semester abroad --oh well. I really like the two leads.
