She's very one note, she has no acting range as she approaches everything the same way and her songs all sound alike.
She'll do the same type of series over and over so eventually people will tire of her...hopefully and she'll probably come back and do a Broadway show...please NOT Funny Girl!

Perhaps divorced from Rachel Barry she'll return to being a real, likable performer? I was recently watching/listening to some clips of her from back before GLEE and she used to be such a lovely performer. Now she's such a scary stepford type it's like she's a totally different person.

Personally I found her "Spring Awakening" replacement - Alexandra Socha - far better in the show.

I think it depends what opportunities she gets and what choices she makes. As for her talent, I watched Glee from the beginning and I've seen every episode. I agree that she does play it a little broad sometimes, more so lately, but there have also been times when she's brought me to tears with a single song. I don't think you can just write her off as a bad actress. I love Kristen Chenoweth but if I'd only seen her movie and TV roles, I'd think she was a bad actress as well.

I must admit that the degree of feeling here is surprising. comments lead me to believe that this is not just an assessment of her abilities and talent but more animosity. What's going on here? What is the cause of these strong feelings? Are you guys industry insiders with unfortunate experiences? is she really that talentless and I never noticed?

Im far from an industry insider, it was truly just a curiosity. I don't know anyone who cares for her (kind of like the Kardashians) but she seems to stay afloat.

'Don't forget that television filming allows for as many takes as necessary for a "perfect" recording.

Where in the world did you get that idea? The "Glee" cast had a week to record five songs, then learn the choreography, and film the episode. They had one or two takes at best.

I love Lea's acting, singing, and her. You guys are such haters. If you don't like her, then don't waste your time talking about her. Everyone knows Patti Lupone is the biggest bitch alive.. but you guys still obsess over her. Do you guys just hate broadway actors who get a really great hollywood treatment? There isn't many.. Barbra & Angela are the only people I can think of.. the rest were in failed projects. **Just my opinion. She gets so much hate for no reason. I'm sure there are many horrible broadway veterans out there.

No, most hated her before she went to Hollyw
The difference between Lupone and Michelle? Lupone earned her diva title, Michelle was with at the very beginning of her success. To castmates and fans alike. There are many people here that have personal experience.

As for her talent, the girl can sing, but I do not care very much for her acting. And yes, a person's integrity is more important than their talent.

I really like Lea and feel that she can extend to be a successful recording star with the right material. I've watched glee from the beginning and I think she can do comedy. She has had some really funny bits. I'm curious to see what is the future for her. Because she can SING her face off, her voice can be very emotionally affecting on the right song and she knows how to restrain when need be, IMO.

Differences in opinion appear to differ between judging the talent and judging the person behind the talent. There are lots of celebs who are talented but terrible people behind the scenes, and vice versa. I guess it just depends on where one draws the line for respect.

I don't know anything against her based on facts as of now, I heard she's a bit of a diva (or maybe is just sexism because she's a woman, wtv), but nothing that would make me change the idea that she's a great singer/actress (I don't even know that it could change, actually).

I think Kanye West is a ridiculous person, and yet, I still think he's the best rapper of his generation.

Many here claim to have worked with her and did not have good experiences. So that's where the hate comes from. She is a great singer, but so are many actresses on Broadway. Her singing is very touchable in my opinion.

I was so impressed by her during the first 2-3 seasons of Glee. For her vocals. And, a decent actress, not that it was a real stretch to play her part.

Maybe there's something about working with her that has held her back. Or, maybe she doesn't have the confidence, or the ambition, that she was presumed to have. Or, maybe she's just not with the right management team.

And, it's kind of interesting that her character on the show is someone who firmly believes that she is a star, better than everyone else, and destined for greatness, and I'm reading that she's not so great to work with.

Maybe Ryan Murphy knows exactly who he is writing for.
