"What is Will going to do now? The chances of Bull Durham making to Broadway are slim."
Him and Audra McDonald are doing A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN at Williamstown this summer.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
I have total faith in Audra being able to pull it off, but am not so sure about Swensen. It's going to be a stretch for him. I've always liked Will and wish the best for him. I just have trouble seeing him play a drunken, down-at-the heels, hopeless life castaway. Who knows? Good luck, Will.
I like Will and have liked him in other roles, but I did not enjoy his Javert at all. I wish him the best in his next project, which I bet him playing off Audra would be fantastic.
I would love to see John Rapson get bumped to Javert, because his performance when I saw him as an understudy was just incredible. Since that seems unlikely given Rapson is playing Grantaire, I would also love Andrew Valera to reprise his role from the tour.
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
