I think it will almost definitely tour, with a major star starring in it - at least in the beginning."
I thought the Waiters' Gallop was fine but nothing extraordinary. Maybe it was an off day but I can think of examples of better, more exciting choreography.

Her work ethic never ceases to amaze me.
BuddyStarr said: "If it does tour they will need a star for Dolly. Probably someone for the masses a la "Dancing with the Stars" but in the earlier years. I would suspect they would find some comic actress who was big in the 90's but isn't on TV anymore (more likely a TV star than a movie star). Some who the buying public (or subscription public) would have know well from TV). Marie Osmond would seemto be a good choice as Markypoo suggested or even the actress who played Peg Bundy (she even sang backup as a Harlet for Bette) Maybe Susan Dey? Why not Glenn Close? Maybe THIS show would be in her range?"
Peg Bundy...you mean Katey Segal a woman who has starred in not 1, but 4 critically and or commercially successful tv series: Married with Children, Futurama, 8 simple rules for dating my teenage daughter, and Sons of Anarchy (for which she won an Emmy). Add to that shes currently starring in season 2 of Superior Doughnuts on CBS. Katy Segal isn't some has been, shes a TV legend who will be remembered among the greatest women on TV with Mary Tyler Moore, Betty White, and even Lucille Ball.

Megan Mullally? With Nick Offerman as Horace?
What about Jane Kaczmareck as Dolly and Bryan Cranston as Horace?

Re: Joy Behar, I'm almost certain she was offered the non-Equity tour that starred Sally Struthers, not to star in a tour of the Zaks revival.
A touring Dolly that would rake in the $$ = Andrea Martin

I’m 100 percent sure that was an Equity tour, but was on one of the lower SETA contracts. It had equity actors.
Andrea Martin would be great!

The Sally Struthers production ceased to exist a while ago. What probably happened is that the producers of the current production put out "feelers" to a variety of people just to see where they stand and what their possibilities could be.
Ana Gasteyer and Andrea Martin are great (and realistic) ideas. Megan Mullally, too, though if Will & Grace continues she probably wouldn't be able to.

Well great! Now I need that!
With Dallas Summer Musicals announcing Hello, Dolly as part of their package for next season, I hope we find out casting soon!

^^ It doesn't start touring until next year, nor have auditions happened yet ( I don't think...) so that's gonna be a while.
Dallas Summer Musicals is offering "Hello Dolly" in July 2019. http://dallassummermusicals.org/
Tour will probably start January 2019.
