Sorry, HOW can the vapidness of Bring it On be amazing? Sure, the dancing certainly can be...but good lord.
And I hardly think you will find any working actor, telling you the new gig that is paying them is anything less than stellar.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Yikes. Someone didn't get the movie. Despite what you may think the film was actually widely adored by audiences and critics alike. It's called satire.
Agreed, Cate. It may not be "La Règle du Jeu," but it's certainly not vapid. It's really a pretty sharp little comedy, along the lines of "Legally Blonde" or "Mean Girls." Let's just hope it spawns a better musical than the former.

"Bring it on" has a mediocre imdb rating and fair rotten tomatoes rating. I think "adored" might be too strong a word.

I heard talks that Dequina Moore was going to return to star in this in Atlanta. Idk what happened? I love her and hope that she gets to perform in this on Broadway at least if it decides to open. She is a good performer and her riffs are great.
I've seen all the sequels too. While they don't have the same wit as the original they're not MST material either.

We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
