• Cheyenne Jackson is the latest Broadway MVP to sign up for what's shaping up to be the best show ever, Fox's Glee. He's slated to guest star in the show's third episode, which will air this fall. (As announced last week, Glee's pilot will air May 19 after American Idol; the remaining episodes will be held until fall.) from tv guide online

what's shaping up to be the best show ever
Not on my planet.
LOL
It's downright terrible. Who's idea was it to write that in the tv guide??? Yuck.

Wasn't this show supposed to be on this year? I feel like it's been talked about forever. Any bets on whether or not it will even still be on by the time the get to Cheyenne's episode?

You gotta hand it to Cheyenne, he doesn't let any grass grow beneath his feet. Which is fine with me.

Sorry, but this is gonna flop. Not only is it on Fox, but there is really nobody in the cast that will draw in the non-theatre type people.
I mean High School Musical had that Efron kid, but I just can't see Glee having any real following. I love Matt, but I don't think he will appeal much to the teen girls the way Efron does.
And I find Lea Michele hard to watch. The overbite kills it. haha
I don't think Zac Efron was the main draw when High School Musical first started. In fact, I'm pretty sure he was fairly unknown before HSM.
I think the show looks fun. I loooooooooooooooooooooove Cheyenne Jackson, so I'll keep my fingers crossed :)

It sure will be interesting for us theatre folk. But who else in the world knows most of these guest stars? They're better off getting Beyonce to drop in. Now, THERE's your ratings topper !

Take out Matt Morrison and substitute him with Cheyenne, TA-DOW! The Zac Efron of Glee.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to last. I'll watch it because I've watched worse shows for Broadway people, but it looks pretty bad IMO.
don't diss fox.. look at 24. Also, lots of singers out there. I was in a conference call today and this super respected managing director at my firm grabbed a mic reserved for the call and pretended that she was going to belt. I have a Rent poster at my desk. Someone in the room mentioned Avenue Q and the room erupted. People are freaking scared right now, losing jobs, looking for small signs. I honestly think Glee could do ok. People are looking for silly, looking for middle school.
Even if it does flop, it will end up on DVD and they'll make money off it that way.
I would much rather see Michele, Morrison, and Jackson on stage, anyway.
And I find Lea Michele hard to watch. The overbite kills it. haha
Is it really necessary to attack a performer's physical appearance?
If you don't like her acting skills or her singing voice, so be it, but human beings don't have control over their physical appearance, so it's really just downright rude to insult the way they LOOK.
Personally, I think Lea Michele is gorgeous and an incredibly skilled actress and singer, and unless she insults your physical appearance, or unless your name is John Simon, you really shouldn't be insulting hers or anyone else's.
I do not care for her acting. And I don't think this will last long....at all. Although I'll admit the commercial for it last week during Idol was more impressive than I thought it would be.

He had a few guest starring stints under his belt but he was a relative unknown before HSM
I am really excited for this show! Kristin Chenoweth, Debra Monk, and Victor Garber are supposed to be regulars too! :)

Wanna Be A Foster - You should read this board a little more often, people are always commenting on looks and acting skills. If you are that sensative, maybe you should avoid coming on BWW? So sorry to hurt your little feelings.

jazzicat: Have you read the script for the first episode? If they're sticking to what I've seen of it, it is NOT a happy, light-hearted show.

This is why I don't like FOX. They will air a pilot of a new show like GLEE after a hit show like American Idol, but don't show the rest of the series until everyone has forgot about it, several months later.
GLEE will no doubt get high numbers when it airs after Idol, but I think it will crash and burn in the fall.
I just don't do FOX series...period.
Sorry, but this is gonna flop. Not only is it on Fox, but there is really nobody in the cast that will draw in the non-theatre type people.
"Not only is it on Fox"? Fox is still the home of:
24
American Dad
American Idol
America's Most Wanted
COPS
Family Guy
Hell's Kitchen
House, M.D.
King of the Hill
Mad TV
The Osbournes
Prison Break
The Simpsons
So You Think You Can Dance
Airing on Fox seems to be one of the things this show has going for it if it wants any chance at longevity.

Mister Matt, of the shows you listed above, the only one I have seen is American Idol.
Ok, but the point is, Fox has a habit of creating popular shows with staying power. I have no idea how Glee will do, but airing on Fox is in no way a detriment.

Regarding the original post--does anyone else think that Jackson doesn't translate well to the small screen? I ADORE him, and have seen everything he has done on stage (several times each). I think he is magnetic, very funny, has a great voice, and has immense stage presence. He is definitely the tops for me when I see him in the theater. That being said, the three TV guests spots he has done in the past year--Lipstick Jungle, Life on Mars, and now Ugly Betty--have seemed a bit...I don't know...off or weird or just not right--to me anyway.
