LePetite. NEWSIES is an all-time favorite.
Disney has told my business associates that they will "never" sell the rights to create a stage musical. I will never know why and Disney has opted not to tell me or my partners.
anyone work for Disney on this board? please. enlighten me. it just pisses me off.
it has the potential to be a wonderful musical.

I like the Center Stage idea myself...but, my husband and I were discussing this and his answer was : Hitchchiker's guide to the galaxy! I guess that scene where they have to keep going back to get the paperwork stamped could make for a rather funny production number....

Adam Guetell was writing The Princess Bride. It fell through last year for over creative differences I believe.
That would have been INCREDIBLE.
I think someone's doing Moonstruck too.

I don't understand why they would say they'd never sell the rights. The movie has a bigger fan base than they actually realize and I know it could work on stage.
My only guess is that because the movie originally didn't do as well as they hoped it would in theatres they're concerned it won't do well on stage. But the film found it's market on VHS and DVD. It practically has a cult following.
They're being stupid.
btw...has anyone actually seen "Blood Drips Heavily on Newsies Square"? I've seen screen caps but never the "film".

"Was Swing Kids the movie with the Nazism?"
Yes. Christian Bale, Robert Sean Leonard, an uncredited Kenneth Branagh.
Noah Wyle totally busted up Frank Whaley's hand. I cringe at that scene in the film. I wonder what I'd do it I saw it live

I would love to see Benny and Joon, as many have already mentioned.
Pirates of the Carribean would also be pretty cool.

I think with the right people behind it, Princess Bride could transfer to the stage very nicely.
I don't think Enchanted would work AT ALL! Part of it's charm is that it's live action and animated, which can't be brought to the stage, and also because it takes place in so many different parts of NYC, and you can't bring all of them on one stage. I don't think any set changes could happen fast enough

I was joking with my mom last night how the "It's A Small World" attraction at Disney World should be turned into a horror movie. I mean, they did "Pirates of the Caribbean", and "The Haunted Mansion", so why not? LOL! If that got made into a movie, than I think it should be a musical. Now that would be plain scary. I can guarantee this would have flop written all over it.
I think Mean Girls is an interesting idea.

Babes on Broadway (this could have potential)
Casablanca (would LOVE to see this!)
It's a Wonderful Life(could be quite charming)
Ziegfield Follies
The Corsican Brothers
