I would think Something Rotten, Fun Home & most certainly Hamilton are all potentially good original musicals that are worth the trip. I have tix to all three plus Finding Neverland (I'm aware that Finding Neverland has some less than stellar word of mouth but I plan to see for myself.)

While FN has its detractors (nearly every show does) there are many people that loved it, too. I think for many theater goers it is totally worth it.
If it interests you, go. Make your own decision.
I loved it in Boston, even though I saw flaws within. I'm hopeful that they have addressed them. I think this gets hate like Wicked does -- it will likely be very popular and therefore not "art".

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

That's disappointing Philly, what didn't you like about it? I was looking forward to it.

I think an American in Paris looks great.
I'm very excited for this. Why are you so against it Philly?
You haven't seen it so why do you say it's not good?
Sarcasm aside, the only show I think looks like a dud is Finding Neverland.

Wait, people post opinions about shows they've never seen, really? Serious, I just assumed Philly saw it in Paris.

And some of us not-so-old-timers also love Gershwin.

As Michael Musto previously talked about on Theater Talk, normally these classy movie musicals in the past had been turned into these pretty lousy Broadway shows.

Oh Philly. You haven't seen American in Paris.
To the OP, should you go to Broadway? Yes you should go to Broadway.

i love Gershwin, and I love dancy shows. But I'm tired of seeing stuff like this, and i just don't think its gonna be well received. Sounds like a disaster to me at least

And some of us tweens just googled Gershwin and we want more love from our PeePaw so we talk about the barbarians of today not being able to hold a candle to the Gershwin sisters. Uh, brothers.

I think you should absolutely never attend another Broadway show for as long as you live.

LOL why?? You know how many theatre folk, like Michael Musto, think this is going to be a disaster?
I always thought this was gonna be bad. Plus, i don't really think the lead can sing or act. But we'll see

Spoiler: Philly has seen none of these shows.
Also: I haven't heard negative buzz about the show. And, unlike Philly, I actually do work in the industry.
So, please, Philly, keep telling us about what's good and what you know about what's going on in the industry, despite not seeing these shows and not having any professional ties.

Except, Phil, there are people who actually saw "An American In Paris" on stage in Paris and seemed to like it - making it seem not like a "disaster" in the making.

You're literally basing that on nothing.

no, I'm basing that off the fact that I've seen them perform and i don't think the lead can really act or sing IMO. The show just sounds terrible idk, plus we just had a show with the same songs a few seasons ago. The music is just being abused at this point for me. Same thing goes with First Wives Club with the motown songs. However, i would watch out for Doctor Zhivago and It Shoulda Been You, and The Visit, and Something Rotten, and Finding Neverland
