Did anyone notice Oprah shouting "THE SECRET!" in the caricature drawing?
Tulita, I was just about to post that blog entry.
I was so happy to read that.
I love those kids so much. They make me happy.

Kind of random, but does anybody have any idea what they might sell at the flea market? I'm hoping rice crispy treats...
Saw the show yesterday and absolutley LOVED it! I hope they run for a very, very long time!
I think they should sell pre-[title of show]ed duct tape roles.
Saw this on Thusday night. I was pleasantly suprised with how full house was considering the dismal grosses that have been posted.
I was really delighted with {tos} through and through. Most of the audience seemed delighted as well, but I could see how it's not for everyone.
All five of the cast were delightful at stage door and seemed truly happy to talk to everyone.
I wish them luck for continued success!
Will they even be at the Flea Market? They have 2 shows on Sunday, and it's not like they have a multitude of understudies/ensemble/chorus/assistant stage managers to man the booth. I really, really, hope they are, though, and I hope they sell lots of duct tape and rice krispie treats. I want a stay classy shirt, and Hunter should make us all some shrimp and sell it. broadwayfan, I was there yesterday too! Glad you and dramamama liked the show!
Wait, what date is the flea market?
I have a feeling they will definitely be there. The show only runs 90 minutes, so they can just swing by there before/after and such.
It sounds like the kind of thing they'd want to be involved in.

It's Sept. 21, foster. Which is a Sunday, when [tos] has a 3 PM show. meaning that the cast could be there for about 4 hours before they have to be at the theater.
Thanks, Trekkie.
So the whole thing is 11:00am until what time?
And I'm betting during the show times, Michael Berresse and Courtney and Ben can man the booth.
The flea market general goes from 11AM to around 6PM. They'll have plenty of time, and just about anyone could cover the table for them during the show times. I'm sure Michael, Courtney, or Ben can do it (like Foster said), or anyone else who works at the Lyceum who would be interested.
I was there yesterday afternoon, too! Second row, center, the closest I've ever been. I was also there on Friday night, with a newbie who is now a converted tosser.
Yesterday, Susan locked eyeballs with me during Die Vampire Die, which about made me pass out, and Heidi had what she called her "audience connection" moment with me during A Way Back to Then. First I thought it was just my imagination/fantasy, but they both confirmed it at the stage door! Susan said, "Did you see me seeing you see me looking at you?" Hilarious. After Friday's show, I had given Hunter a print out of an email exchange I had with someone who was telling me how [tos] had inspired him. Yesterday, he could not stop telling me how much that meant to him. Cramazing.
"...and a trendy photo shoot for a homo magazine..."
HA! I talked to Jeff about the suit in that picture at the stage door yesterday and he said it was really uncomfortable because the fabric was exceptionally scratchy!

OK, this post may be a little off, but it has the PSF seal of approval, so here goes...
My daughter and I were in the city on Saturday to see the (cough, cough) Jonas Brothers and among our stops was Pinkberry, where my daughter ordered a small with Fruity Pebbles and bananas. My thoughts went to TOS as soon as I saw the label on the cup, since the way they abbreviated it was:
FRUITY P. BANANAS
I know it doesn't fit the drag queen name criteria (actually sounds more like a children's book character), but it struck me funny.
Fanadu, that shirt in your profile pic is amazing. Did you see the show Saturday? If you did, I was in the front row...but I turned around a few times before the show, and there's no way I could've missed a huge-ass nametag like that, so I'm guessing you didn't. I'm glad the cast will probably be at the Flea Market, I just wasn't really thinking about time gaps when I posted.
Oh, and apparently, Heidi pointed at me and said "Meat Weasel!" after curtain call, but that had to be the exact moment that I grabbed my bag on the floor so that the woman next to me wouldn't trip on it. Grrr.
SO how many times has every-one seen [title of show]?
Unfortunately, I've only seen [title of show] one time. Damn living in PA. I'd love to go back.

Once, but holding out the hope that it sticks around long enough for me to see it again.
Three times: twice at the Vineyard and the first preview on Broadway. I need to get back ASAP!
I've seen it 8 times on the Broadway.
Hopefully #9 will be Boys' Night next Tuesday... Woo hoo!
PS: I emailed Jeff about the [tos]cavanger hunt and he's totally "jazzed" about it! (His words not mine...lol)
So keep taking those pics!
Thanks, Sweeney--the amazing WonderRobbie snapped that photo at the stage door on Friday night, and I went again on Sunday afternoon. I'm up to 5 times on the Broadway and once at the Vineyard...hoping to go again on boys' night next week.
Okay, so when I first heard about this show way back yonder in the Festival days, it was described to me as a show where the actors "make up" the musical as they go along with a lot of "musical theatre comedy" jokes.
I interpreted this as meaning it was some kind of improv musical theatre night for show queens. Frankly, not my bag.
So, I basically ignored everything about TOS until about a month ago, when I came to find out this was NOT an improv night at the Duplex.
I finally saw the show yesterday and adored it. There is something very special about the piece, which I was surprised to find isn't really about musical theatre at all.
It is of course a show about having a dream, pursuing it, friendship, artistic integrity, doubt, creative discovery and collaboration. I thought there was more honesty and heartfelt moments in this funky thing than in just about everything else I've seen on Broadway recently.
When I look at the grosses, I find them heartbreaking - but I completely understand why. The show is being marketed as some sort of indie musical theatre lovers private party. I was turned off by it initially, and I'm an indie musical theatre lover.
Please somebody involved - come up with a new ad campaign. Despite gay characters, and references to COME SUMMER and PORTOFINO, this IS a show that mainstream audiences can relate to. The complexities of wanting something, trying to make it happen, and facing the difficulties when you get it are classic themes and ideas that people have related to in film and theatre forever...
Listen, I know this thing will get a handful of Tony nominations, I know it will live forever in regional theatre, but its frustrating because I think it could appeal to a much bigger crowd if they had a different marketing spin.
Have they been on any talk shows yet? People Magazine? The back story is a PR dream.
6 times on Broadway. Seeing it tonight and on Boys night.
12 times at the Vineyard.
Thank you, MichaelBennett. I'm frankly getting very worried about the show. I'd love to see them on talk shows - the walk with Hunter and Jeff on Fox-5 this morning was too brief and insubstantial. PalJoey is right when he said they should emphasize the shows heart and downplay the 'insidery' aspects.
I'd give my tonsils to see them on Ellen. And she would totally get the message.
Don't you love when smart people whose opinions you admire "get" this show?
MB--the producers of this show were smart enough to market Rent, Avenue Q and In the Heights. Let's hope they're smart enough to turn this into a mainstream show, they are! But they could use a few of your ideas...
