So one of my favorite traditions around this time of year is finding out what shows will be performing during NBC's broadcast of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, what shows do we think will be performing this year?
Personally I'm thinking The Outsiders, Tammy Faye, Death Becomes Her, Hell's Kitchen, and Gypsy (and a special appearance by Rachel Zegler and Kit Connor for Romeo + Juliet similar to Gad & Rannells did last year)
Tom Francis walking through the Macys store and out onto the street? I'm not even kidding. I don't know how much they want to milk that for press appearances, but it could be done interestingly in so many different settings.
Since Death Becomes Her is a Universal project I’m sure they’ll be guaranteed a slot. The other two/three slots will probably go to The Outsiders, Hells Kitchen, and Tammy Faye if they can afford it.
I’m sure Grande and Erivo will be plopped on a float.
edit: I totally forgot Six already did the CBS broadcast. &Juliet seems totally plausible; not sure if Back to the future would perform so close to their closing, but that didn’t stop other shows.
My guess:
CBS will have & Juliet and Back to the Future. JMO
Being that Death Becomes Her is lead-produced by Universal, I would be shocked if it isn't given a slot on NBC.

Do you think we will get an Ariana/Cynthia performance?
I don't have any hard data to back this up, but it seems to me that a lot of movie actors pause press tours for a few weeks after a movie opens wide. WICKED opens a week before Thanksgiving. I'm sure there will be some presence, but we shouldn't automatically assume Ariana & Cynthia will be there.
At a minimum, there will be a ton of ads for it on NBC touting things like "#1 movie in America".

Given its lead producer, I’d be surprised if SMASH is not on the NBC Macys Parade.
Maybe Teeth can do “‘Modest is Hottest” to keep the evangelists at bay after The Prom a few years ago

There are several Broadway actors in Hallmark Channel Christmas movies this year including Jordan Fisher. I wonder if we may get some of them performing on their float.

I would think Elf and Annie will both perform. I could see Hells Kitchen and A Wonderful World. I would like Outsiders and Death Becomes Her but unlikely. I also had the thought of Sunset Boulevard opening the parade, it just doesn’t really seem like the vibe.
There’s always the wild card option: the last few years have had appearances from shows that weren’t new but were tourist friendly.

The Outsiders announced on Insta
From here -
“Among the performers this year will be the Broadway casts of “Death Becomes Her,” “Hell’s Kitchen” and “The Outsiders”. There will also be performances from Idina Menzel and Lea Salonga, as well as the iconic Radio City Rockettes®. “
Eh. Not a very exciting lineup this year... at least to me.

Agreed. Excited to see Death Becomes Her but only 4 performances? There were 5 last year and 3 more on CBS. I also thought we saw Outsiders and Hell's Kitchen previously but Google tells me no. Still, they've been around so long, and there's so many new shows. Sunset Boulevard or Gypsy would be exciting to see.

I wonder if more will be going to CBS instead to perform, seems easier to coordinate
8:30 AM start time for a second year in a row. Last year’s telecast drew the most viewers in the history of the event.

I think this announcement was just for NBC and we usually hear about CBS separately
I wonder if Lea Salonga will sing a holiday song or do a solo in promotion of "Old Friends"?

Holiday song. Her newest Christmas album, “Sounding Joy,” just released today.
In a neat twist, Idina Menzel will be performing "Great Escape" from her upcoming musical REDWOOD, on a brand new Bronx Zoo float.
When do they usually film for the CBS broadcast? I thought it was usually early November, but I could be wrong.
Just saw on the news that bad weather could impact the parade. I’m assuming that at some point over the years inclement weather has forced the parade to be canceled or postponed. Am I correct? Anyone know? Details? I’m wondering if the Broadway shows which I believe have to pay to participate are reimbursed if the parade is nixed? Or would they transition to showing a production from inside their respective theatres?
