Definitely agree with Wicked being a subscription show being kind of a bummer. Curious on what the mystery 7th show is!

Any word on The Prom tour continuing into 2022-2023? Haven't seen it pop up in any seasons past September 2022 even though it hasn't played a lot of major markets yet.

COVID performance cancellation Jan 23

Hairspray tour in Detroit cancelled last night's performance (the matinee went on) and both shows today. Currently planned to resume on Tuesday for week two of the run. I was supposed to go tonight and switched my tickets to Thursday--fingers crossed!

A local theater company here did a production of A Christmas Carol and had the Ghost of Christmas Future on stilts in a Grim Reaper outfit. Super effective and creepy!

2020-2021 Touring Season Feb 7

I feel the same about Detroit's announcement. I'm actually excited to see Hairspray but am shocked that it is part of the subscription instead of an add-on. With so many good shows touring this seems like a waste. Also not sure why they keep the extra add-on shows such a secret, I don't know of any other city that does this.

Det95 said: "I'm just hoping we get a decent season package in Detroit. The past couple years have been sub-par. There's so many good shows touring that I hope we get. Miss Saigon is in it's second(?) touring season right now and we haven't gotten it yet. Now that Broadway in Detroit is using three theatres again I'm being cautiously optimistic for a decent season."
For real. For having such a large subscription base we seem to get the short end o

Luckily Broadway was spared, but the US Tour of The Bodyguard deserves a mention.

Carried one on the plane without issue last year. Just be careful when putting it in the overhead bin as other people's suitcases could damage it.

Saddest songs in musical theater Jul 26
2018, 10:24:19 PM
-Not My Father's Son- Kinky Boots
-Days and Days & Telephone Wire- Fun Home
-Lead Us Out of the Night- Come From Away
I'll also throw a strange one in the mix. It's not necessarily "sad" but Where Did the Rock Go from School of Rock always makes me think about several passions of mine that I am unable to live out due to the demands of adult life.

Raunchy - Adult - X-Rated Broadway Songs? Sep 18
2017, 08:21:37 AM
-Contact- Rent
-You Can Be As Loud As The Hell You Want- Avenue Q
Both of these aren't exactly family friendly but I don't think there are too many truly X-rated musicals/songs out there.

Worst National Tour Sep 3

Have to give another vote for Matilda. Saw it in Detroit and one of the biggest problems was the sound. All musical numbers and 2/3 of the dialogue were completely inaudible. The Fisher has wonderful acoustics so it was not an issue with the venue. The story did nothing for me also. It's the only show I've ever left at intermission. Even the dreaded Beauty and the Beast tour scored higher for me.
