Ragtime Seating Question

Nov 6, 2025 — 11:34:50 AM

I sat in N 305 and it was fantastic. Anywhere in section 3 is great.

MAYBE HAPPY ENDING. BREAK A LEG

Genuinely curious -- it seems, if anything, that the show certainly has heart, but to promote a sweet show with an emphasis on technical "wow" always seemed an odd combination to me."There are definitely a few [what I consider] spectacular moments.

Maybe Happy Ending or Our Town. If you could only see one, which one?

It's the one slot in my upcoming weekend where I rethought my original choice. I have a ticket to Our Town and then realized it would never live up to the Lincoln Center production (when i read that the current revival cut the intermissions and running time...nope). That is when MHE became the "plan B". BTW here is my weekend rundown: Outsiders, Oh Mary, Sunset Blvd., Ragtime, and likely MHE. Any thoughts on Swept Away? Thanks!!

Our Town or Stereophonic

Thanks, I saw your comment re Our Town and appreciate the input!

Our Town or Stereophonic

I am a huge fan of the Lincoln Center production of Our Town and have tickets to see the revival. Now I am rethinking things. What are your thoughts with seeing Stereophonic instead?

re: Starlight Express--can ANYONE defend this show?

Oct 15, 2024 — 4:24:07 PM

I saw this in London in 1998, I waited in line for a cancellation and ended up getting a ticket. The excitement was amplified because Princess Diana had seen SE the night before and it was all of the tabloids. The set and production design were amazingly over the top. Phantom had the chandelier, Miss Saigon had the helicopter, Les Miserables had the barricade, and Starlight Express had a bridge. All jaw dropping Coup de théâtre's of their time.

To pivot off of this topic: I have seats in Mezz center row C. I was thinking of upgrading. How are the projections from the Mezz?

Wick3 said: "Yep I also checked tix for Jan 2-6 and they're still selling orchestra seats for $699. I wonder if we'll see Music Man on TKTS."After the 12/21 eve performance of Assassins was cancelled I got a ticket to The Music Man for that night! The cost was $279, row N seat 112. So they do lower the prices.

I saw this tonight and had a really great time. Hugh is a star and it shows here, his interaction with the young actors is fantastic. Design a notch or two above the disaster that was Carousel, but nothing like HD.

The design is a bit underwhelming. There are a few WOW moments but nothing like Dolly.

Loudest gasp you've heard in the theatre

I love the film. I saw the train wreck of a revival with Quentin Tarantino / Marisa Tomei in 1998. That famous scene when the lights go out; the only light left is the light in the refrigerator, and the fridge door is slowly opened in the Coupe De Theatre moment. The scene misfired in this stunt-casting revival.
