TRUMP RENAME Dec 21 2025, 08:23:48 AM
Perhaps he'll throw himself a celebratory motorcade through the streets of Dallas.

2026/2027 Producers Revival? Dec 21 2025, 07:49:02 AM
I think Jack Black and Daniel Radcliffe would be a great team.

OFFICIAL: Lane/Metcalf DEATH OF A SALESMAN to open at Winter Garden, March 2026 Dec 5 2025, 10:32:54 AM
Lane and Metcalf are always well worth seeing, but I'm just as excited about the choices for Biff and Happy. I would love to see Abbott/Charlie and Ahlers/Clock Twink on stage, though I would probably need binoculars at the Winter Garden.

Sadie Sink & Noah Jupe to start in ROMEO & JULIET on the West End Nov 18 2025, 12:20:07 PM
Judging by his performance in Hamnet (don't miss it!), Jupe is perfect casting. The last 20 minutes are devastating, in large part due to him.

CHESS Previews Oct 19 2025, 12:40:47 PM
Unless I slipped into a brief coma, the dream ballet was cut completely on Saturday night. I know they're in previews, but I think this revival would have benefitted greatly from an out-of-town tryout. If you are charging Broadway prices you should be further along.

Cranston, et. al., in All My Sons Sep 16 2025, 01:10:33 AM
For starters, Cranston's twinkling eyes and amused smirk and Jean-Baptiste's contented smile. Does anything read as tragedy to you?

Cranston, et. al., in All My Sons Sep 15 2025, 01:48:04 PM
Why in heaven's name would they try to make All My Sons look like a comedy?
Worse yet, could van Hove be staging it as a comedy?

Johnny Oleksinski: Dolly Parton’s Broadway-bound musical gets vicious reactions in Nashville: ‘Drag bar in Vegas’ Aug 26 2025, 01:38:56 PM
Sounds like the most entertaining thing about this show is casting Quinn Titcomb as one of the Dollys.

SMASH To Close June 22, 2025 Jun 11 2025, 09:05:16 AM
I guess this means Schmigadoon doesn't have much chance to make it to New York?

The 78th Annual TONY Awards Performances! Jun 9 2025, 04:41:05 PM
I enjoyed the Hamilton reunion, but I was surprised and disappointed that Anthony Ramos didn't get a spotlight. He's one of the biggest names to emerge from that company!

It's a historic & 'Happy' night for Asians & Asian-Americans at the Tonys! Jun 9 2025, 04:36:24 PM
Honestly, I had no idea that Criss is supposed to be playing an Asian robot in Maybe Happy Ending, until I saw someone online question which Asian actor would replace him when he departs the show later this year. Did they cast him because he's half Filipino? If you didn't know his background, I can't imagine you would identify him or his character as Asian in any way, and I can't imagine that it would -- or should -- matter in the least.

No Mask for Orville Peck Mar 17 2025, 08:49:20 AM
I know they're just trying to manufacture some excitement, but this whole "will he or won't he?" is just silly. You can see a lot more than Mr. Peck's face if you do a little Googling.

Patti LuPone ANYTHING GOES Clip Mar 17 2025, 08:47:22 AM
I think the funniest thing I've ever seen on stage was a Forbidden Broadway parody of Patti LuPone singing/mangling/garbling the title song from Anything Goes. The woman can sing, but she sure can't enunciate!

SUNSET BLVD. Revival Jan 28 2025, 11:20:24 AM
I was also lucky enough to be there on the night of the 24th, and couldn't agree more with your review, especially your rave about Diego Andres Rodriguez. If they extend in New York with a new Norma, or embark on a US tour, I hope he gets the lead. A star is born.
I also just wanted to add a word about the audience. You hear so many horror stories about disrespectful and inconsiderate audiences these days, but last night's crowd was magnificent. T

Jon M. Chu will direct a movie-musical adaptation of JOSEPH...DREAMCOAT for Amazon Dec 26 2024, 02:19:58 PM
Honestly, a lightweight, comedic musical like Joseph seems like a good fit for him, though I wish he'd chosen a better show. Maybe he's tired of Stephen Schwartz, but Pippin has a similar tone and better music, as does Godspell (until the end, of course).

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang remake in development Dec 20 2024, 01:56:32 PM
They had better make it a musical, and they had better hire Charlie Stemp.

Name a song from a musical you were sorry to lose in its film version as well as one you were happy to gain. Oct 28 2024, 11:17:22 AM
With the possible exception of Sacha Baron Cohen's performance, I don't find anything worthwhile about the Sweeney Todd adaptation, especially the way they eviscerated the score.
I mean, why even make a movie version if you need to cut so much brilliant music to make it more cinematic? I can live without "City on Fire," but cutting "Kiss Me" killed me, and eliminating "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" was unforgivable (even if Sondheim agr

"Urinetown" at the Tonys Oct 3 2024, 11:14:04 AM
Finally getting to see "Urinetown" for the first time (Lyric Stage in Boston) this weekend, and was wondering what the heck happened with the Tony Awards back in 2002. Isn't it strange that "Urinetown" had the Best Book, Best Score, and Best Direction, but "Thoroughly Modern Millie" was the Best Original Musical?

My West End Trip Reviews - 13 Shows in 8 Days! Jul 30 2024, 12:45:19 PM
What a terrific thread! I find your reviews very well done, and if I do manage to make it there later this year, I think your advice will be very helpful.
I wonder if you might have any hotel recommendations in the area, walkable to all the shows? I don't need anything ultra-swanky, but preferably modern and casual and fun. Somewhere I might find Charlie Stemp :-)
