THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES To Close January 4, 2026 Dec 9 2025, 05:33:24 PM
The show failed because the material did not connect with the audience, they had a hard time raising all the money, and the team seemingly put too much time and resources into the opening night party at the expense of the reserve. None of this has anything to do with the audience. Great material backed by an economically realistic and sustainable financial plan supports success. Look inward and do better next time.

Broadway tax credit program fund near depletion Jul 17 2025, 10:59:27 PM
This is not good news for accessibility either.

Why couldn't boop extend a few more weeks? Jul 13 2025, 04:05:00 PM
Sadly, they are filling the house at a loss due to an ATP that results in weekly losses even when the house is at 100% full. So, optically, it looked encouraging, but below the hood, the engine was still leaking oil.

SUNSET BLVD. Revival Jul 11 2025, 09:19:06 AM
These are sophisticated computer algorithms that match supply and demand, adjusting as dynamics shift. They exist because producers/investors lose money on 4/5 Broadway productions, and because theater rents and NY unions have made the economics of producing on Broadway a daunting task. When producers cut the cost of set design or other elements to keep prices lower, we focus on the cheapness of the set design rather than the relative affordability of the

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 3/9/25 Mar 12 2025, 12:34:37 AM
It is an interesting question I would not dismiss out of hand. Thar said, I did not see Taylor Swift getting backlash for a much higher ATPs and no easily accessible price points for her tour. Many Broadway shows offer $49/$59 seats, especially during previews/rush/lottery/TKTS, etc. Something to ponder.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 3/9/25 Mar 11 2025, 09:35:52 PM
In my opinion, it is great that Broadway is attracting such big names. It does require that they be well compensated for their efforts. It is great that producers who take incredible risks and lose money on three of four shows earn enough on projects like Othello to keep themselves in the game. It is great that we live in a country where people can spend their disposable income in a way that makes them happy. For many years, artists allowed scalpers and resellers to

DEAD OUTLAW To Open On Broadway April 27, 2025 Jan 28 2025, 07:36:57 PM
Best new work I have seen on or off Broadway this season. The performance flew by and felt truly original. I can't wait for the transfer!

AUDRA GYPSY Reviews Dec 29 2024, 01:05:45 PM
So glad everyone gets back to work today! Live theater is full of surprises, mostly wonderful, but occasionally difficult and and unfair. As Mama Rose says "That's show business". Hoping Gypsy has a long and uninterrupted run from here. Let's go!

Sat in the front row a few weeks ago. Like being in the front car on a roller coaster. Everything feels a little more heightened. Stage is not especially high.

GYPSY Previews Dec 18 2024, 10:03:12 AM
Went back last night. The show is in fantastic shape. Preview period was used wisely IMO. Hard to believe we are getting two career defining /Tony worthy performances right across the street from each other. What a time for Broadway!
PS: For those that like the overture with the houselights down, your wish has been granted.

GYPSY Previews - most important question Dec 2 2024, 12:50:04 AM
Was at the first preview and returned this afternoon for a second look. Wow! Audra is giving a performance for the ages and no disrespect to Nicole, her 7th Tony! Joy has found her Louise! Danny has made Herbie feel more fully flushed out then in any prior broadway production I have seen and his chemistry with Audra and Joy enhances the laughs and the tears. I have warmed up to the new choreography. Bravo Gypsy!! Must be seen.

Rachel Zegler & Kit Connor-led ROMEO + JULIET Previews Sep 27 2024, 10:13:01 AM
Sadly, this did not work for me. I am glad Shakespeare is not alive to see this bastardization of his work. It felt to me like an attempt to be edgy and modern without any direction or emotional core. Honestly felt like a long awkward SNL skit, with the exception of Kit's work, which is a ray of light in the apocalypse.
