Roundabout subscriber service is telling people, who have called asking about ticket sales, they will be able to book their tickets "soon". That was about 30 minutes ago.
Tina Landau utilizes every inch of that stage and the lighting design is absolutely gorgeous. At times. it's as if you were viewing works of art. I'm surprised more people aren't mentioning what a terrific job Taylor Trensch is doing up there. Not an easy role, but he is mesmerizing. And that beautiful score fills that space. I was in such a state of bliss throughout.
There are also what looks to be two extra rows of seats down front on the sides, but the view is blocked by the people sitting at those $400 table seats. I would have hated to be in those added-on front rows.
The view upstairs is just fine, it's the sound design up there that stinks. Saw it Wednesday night and I couldn't make out half the dialogue or lyrics. Two nights later, I sat downstairs after winning the Telecharge lottery and I understood every word, every lyric. Doesn't anyone do sound checks in these old theaters anymore?
Why would they wait until after showtime to cancel the performance on Tuesday, when they cancelled Sunday night's performance two hours before curtain? Another huge beef with MCC-they won't reschedule subscribers after Dec. 1st, during the extension to 12/15, even though there are plenty of seats available up to the 15th. The seats left during the regular run are pretty awful. I'll think twice before re-subscribing next year.
