Just a silly question
Today, someone asked me who Brooke Shields replaced as Roxie...
And I went Charlotte D'....
I realized there are a few Broadway names that people don't know how to say correctly, I can think of three right now, but I'm sure there is more I can think of
Is it D'amboisee or D'ambooas?
It is La Chan- s or La Chan-cey?
Is it James Lapeen or La- paeen
P.S. Does this belong to the off-topic board?
Charlotte D'ambwah
LaShahnz
Lapine is pronounced exactly how it's spelled, Luh-pine (like the tree)
That was very nice thank you.
I actually though that it had an accent in the "eh", as in La Chan- sehy
Interesting.
LaChiusa
I think I'm getting it right, but I've never had to say his name aloud before. I keep feeling guilty whenever a song from his shows comes up on my iPod.
BSO, where are you?
I've always heard it pronounced La-cue-sa.

I'm pretty sure it's "Dam-Bwozz" - in French, the "e" at the end means you pronounce the "s".
Blanche DuBois - "Doo Bwah" Charlotte D'Amboise - "Dam Bwazz"
^^I think Jon is right.
I actually searched on it before you posted your answer and found an interview where he says it's "la-kee-OO-sa". And he goes by Michael John, not just Michael. Interesting.
That's sort of what I meant. I mean, if you say it all together rather than sounding out the syllables, la-kee-OO-sa sort of sounds like what I meant. This is so hard!
I'm glad I wasn't attacked for posting something "stupid".
I have another one
Judy Kon or Koon
Sheyene Jackson or is it like Latin singer Chayanne?
So I can really say for sure Charlotte Dam-Bwozz?

Marin Mazzie?
I know her last name is "May-zee," but what about "Marin?"
Wayne Si-lento or Shi-lento
Jermy Koosh-nee-er or Kosh-nee-er ???
Dam-bwahz is correct. But don't make the z too big of a deal.
I think it's MARE-in, but I could be wrong; I just discovered last week I've been saying D'Amboise incorrectly all my life...or for however long I've known who Charlotte is...

My mom is from Rockford, IL originally (where Marin Mazzie is from), and whenever I've been there and people have referred to her, it's been Mare-in (like a horse). I do know a Marin that's pronounced Mar-in, though.
Edit: I'm not saying that I know that the people in Rockford are pronouncing it correctly, I just know that's how I've heard them say it. So I vote for Mare-in.

And another: Sarah Uriarte Berry.
Yoo-ree-ar-tee
I used to think Karmine Alers name was Kar-meen, but it's actually just liked it's spelled, kar-mine.
Really, I thought it was Karmeen too.
Is Yassmin Alers like it's spelled too? MIN not meen or mine?
Yes, it's Yass-min.
Man, I love me some Yaz.
Is it William Bar-fee or Bar-fay?

This is acttually a very usefull thread! I'm always talking about this actor or that, and I've SEEN their names a lot, but don't know if I'm pronouncing them correctly.
Yeah, I thought so, like the birth control.
