Does anyone know if this is a done deal? I just watched the original and I think Barbra is way too old to play momma rose? Am I crazy?
I thought she purchased the right to Follies and cast Cher, Meryl, Bette, Liza and call it a day.

It's a done deal. I saw it last night. It was so good.
It really was. Barbra was amazing and while Lady Gaga wasn't the best I'd ever seen in that role, she was a hell of a lot better than some of those stuffed animal lambs that they've used on stage.

I thought it was a great choice to bring the lamb back during The Strip and having Gypsy sacrifice it and eat it.

I really think Gaga will settle into the role and really make it her own.
Why isn't anyone talking about Betty White's ELECTRIFYING Electra!?!
I'm still processing that, D2. I guess my only REAL problem with Eli Roth's GYPSY was the electrodes used during Electra's "strip" (I guess you could call it). I know it's all CGI and whatever but seeing Betty White fry her vagina is gonna haunt me for a while.
I thought Liza's Mr Goldstone was excellent- just a little too butch. Directorial indulgence.
So clever to dig up Richard Burton's corpse to play Rose's father during "Some People" - thanks for the idea, John Grant!

Did anyone have problems with Tulsa being played by Neil Patrick Harris in his Hedwig costume? All I Need Now Is The Girl sort of came across a bit too Sweeney Todd-ish for my taste.
I liked that they cast Morgan Brittany and Ann Jillian to reprise their roles as Baby and Dainty June respectively...it added a touch of nostalgia to the whole proceedings
Say what you will but I thought Streisand and Hasselhoff had real chemistry. I smell Oscars!
I smelled the Oscar, too. I love how they used the Smell-o-vision!
I smell another Oscar for Daniel Day-Lewis' amazing performance as Herbie! He and Streisand were dynamite, ala Grant and Russell in HIS GIRL FRIDAY.
Why has no one talked about that CG lamb, that is better CG than AVATAR.

Tyne Daly as Mazeppa, Bette Midler as Elektra and Bernadette Peters as Tessie Tura. How does Barbra do it?

^with Vaseline...
I liked how she made the CGI lamb talk about his adventures to Louise during "Little Lamb", I also like how Babs made all Rose rise to fame at the end instead of going crazy.
PS: I loved the addition of "Losing My Mind"

Disney was the perfect company to produce this...
Casting Milky White as Caroline was inspired!

Poor Elisabeth Moss playing Miss Cratchitt. Always playing the secretary.
Is it just me, or was casting Ariana Grande as the Toreadorable racist?
By far Michael Haneke's most provocative film.

Did anyone catch Barbra's nod to her Jewish heritage during "Little Lamb"?
I don't get why Everything's Coming Up Roses was sung from the front of a tug boat.
It was just to symbolize how she's "tugging" everyone along with her. That's the only thing I didn't really care for about Aronofsky's direction of the film. Well, that and the double sided dildo during "If Momma Was Married".
