every character that gets a song in act two of CATS, with the exception of Macavity, aren't seen until act two. granted, the actors playing them are seen, but they don't get into full character drag until their song in act two... re: Shows that have characters that...

I thought of the reverse of this -- Vittorio in Sweet Charity ONLY shows up in the first act.

There's got to be a few though in Candide who don't show up till the second act....

Everyone in the Noah story in Children of Eden.

Everyone in The Lady and the Tiger and Passionella in The Apple Tree.

King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar.

How about Liat in South Pacific? (I'm not sure about that one).

Edward in The King and I.

Sally Simpson in Tommy.

jacobtsf- wally womper is usually played by the same actor as twimble so he technically is there in act one.

i don't think adult nala counts since she's the adult version of an act one character

Oops, you are right. For some reason I keep thinking that Act 1 ends with "I Could Have Danced..."

Doesn't Henry Higgins' mother only appear in the second act of My Fair Lady?
