They just posted EPAs today.
I doubt it...
Vesper, what do you mean that everyone's talent could be better applied elsewhere?

I also suspect the Lunt will see a limited engagement of White Christmas before The Addams Family moves in.
adamgreer, that makes perfect sense.
I give them credit for waiting til the end of summer and not even attempting winter months. But with this closing I am willing to bet it green lights "Mulan" or "Aladdin" which the Disney Exec's decide to do.
I just mean that The Little Mermaid is clearly full of talented people but that they deserve to be in a better show. The Little Mermaid is my least favorite of the Disney musicals. I actually thought Tarzan was much better. Not good, mind you, but better.
I'm sure it will do quite well on the road.
I'm inclined to think that a Mary Poppins closing notice has to be somewhere in the near future. While the circumstances are obviously different, it has been doing worse than TLM for some time. Then again, I can't imagine Disney letting anyone else near the New Amsterdam. Any new mouse company musicals coming down the pike?

this is sad. i really enjoyed the show despite the ugly sets. the story is good and i've always loved the score.
If I recall there were talks of doing a darker version of Mulan. Still the same plot but not as Disney. If they were smart they'd pluck that Aladdin show outta California beef it up and put on Broadway.

Thank God it's closing! May it be the last of putrid Disney's infestation of Broadway.
Disney leased out the Amsterdam for 100 years. Mary Poppins is in NO danger.
Vesper, you're right, "The Little Mermaid" should do very good on the road. Loved "Mermaid" when I saw it in previews. A very talented cast, indeed. Never occured to me that the show wasn't good, or that the cast could do better.
If Disney can keep making musicals and filling Broadway theatres, good for them. That's terrific! We always hear that "Broadway is dead," but with last years grosses being all time high, Broadway's doing just fine. And, if Disney adds to the success, more power to them.
Mary Poppins won't close until they have a new show ready to go into the theater. While they have several projects in development, all are at least a year or two away from being ready for Broadway.
Oh SNAP!
Had originally started formulating cliche titles like...
Swim With the Fishies
Bottoms Up
Abandon Ship!
Lower the Sails
.... but Playbill beat me to it: Davy Jones' Locker (clever)

Disney is bringing two new shows to the Great White Way in the near future... well, one "revamped" for the holidays... trust me, the Mouse doesn't intend on losing its trifecta any time soon...
Ben Brantley is dancing down the streets of New York right now. (if someone sees him, get a picture for us!)
Good riddance to bad rubbish. Disney has other ways to make money.
I would really like to see Aladdin on Broadway. Though, I'd rather Menken write the lyrics for the new songs if Tim Rice is unavailable. Jasmine's new song, "To Be Free", in the California Adventure show is way better than anything Slater provided for Mermaid.
