that is some really bad casting.

I like the idea of Kristen Bell as Regina. For Justice, PLEASE cast Jenifer Lewis!!
Thanks to Snarky to pointing out the fact that yes, some of the characters, most notably Lonny, were primarily created by the actors and I think it would be a almost a cop out to play off that soo much when casting.
Jennifer Lewis is at the top of my list for Justice. If they want to go younger, then JHud.
I'd love Brittany Murphy for Sherrie.
And why do people keep saying NPH for Franz? He's WAY too old, and honestly, I don't think he can play "gay". Lucas Grabeel would be a good pick, I think. He's young, extremely talented.. hot.
Franz is not gay...He's German.
Snarky - who do you work for/what is your involvement with ROA? I'd be curious to find out if I know you...
you may. But in the anonymous land of message boards, I shall remain just that.. anonymous.
NPH can't act "gay"?
He is gay.
MusicSnob1 - What recurring banned board member do you remind me of? Hmmmm...

Seth Rogen in talks to play Lonny.
I would rather see Seth Rogen as Dennis than Lonny... even though I can't see this working on film at all.
Are they not pursuing the Jack Black & Kyle Gass as Lonny & Dennis idea?
I mean it seems perfect seeing as how Mitch plays Lonny a lot like Black & Kyle was the original Dennis.
Why paint by numbers?
Though, Seth would make a much better Dennis.
I simply assumed it was a case of Samuel L. Jackson syndrome.
When Marvel redesigned its character Nick Fury, they made him a bald black man with a striking resemblance to Samuel L. Jackson, specifically to bait him into taking a film roe if they ever made a Sgt. Nick Fury film.
I figured that after creating the role in a partnership with Kyle Gass and gradually building him up into a character universally compared to Jack Black, they would ask the guy to play the part.

That's why I think they didn't even ask him. This is a total Jack Black movie.

Based on an interview Gass did with Adam Carolla, I don't think he and Jack Black are hanging out anymore. Definitely seemed to be some bitterness.

Interesting that Black and Gass had a falling-out... I'm sorry to hear it, and as much as Jarvis and other actors can/could do great things with Lonny, I feel not getting to see Black's take will be a disappointment, as he is one of the very few people in show business who succeeds equally as actor and metal star.
Jack Black needs to be Lonny. He isn't as fit as Mitch, but hey, he is perfect.
about Adam- i think he is a great choreographer and musical director i just can't stand listening to him. i bet the kids love to work with him.
really? so is the audience going to be able to take beer/liquor into the theater to watch the movie too? Alcohol is the only way this show is enjoyable.
Well, that's your opinion.
i know it is my opinion. thank you for clarifying. I enjoyed watching this show live. won't go see it in a movie theater though. this is idea of a film is a prime example of greedy producers.
Except the original concept was always meant to be a film. Broadway (and off broadway) were never part of the equation. They sort of just happened. The plan was always to make a movie.
Though, I honestly can never see the idea of a movie musical an example of greedy producers. A comic book adaption? Yes. An unnecessary sequel/threequel/prequel? Certainly. But, a movie musical? Not really.
so you are you saying in this case that the out of town try out (for movie musicals) has become producing a broadway show?
