raulmark, it might be just because they know they have a large fan base (including myself) so if they put out the word they are closing the fans (including myself) would run to New York. VERY UNLIKELY THOUGH. It had a good run.
For those who thought NEXT TO NORMAL wouldn't have a life outside Broadway, well it's now playing in 4 cities, 9 different countries and has been translated into 6 languages.
So, I looked on telecharge and they sell only up to Jan 2nd at 3pm. Then I called, and the man said that there is no official statement saying its closing.
It wasn't from the show it was from telecharge, I believe.

Because SHOWS ARE SUPPOSED TO GO ON FOREVER. It had a nice run and now it's ending. I know a lot of you feel like part of your life is dying now you're not sure how to go on without a bipolar woman and a depressed teen on stage displaying the EXACT feelings you're having in your life but you have to let it go.
How stupid is this whole thing? Bring in a brand new cast that presumably are under 6 month contracts and close the show before their contracts are up thereby having to buy them out? Dumbest thing I've ever heard.
I desperately hope this isn't true. It's a masterpiece. I see a long life ahead of it if it chooses to continue. I hope it doesn't take the whole Spring Awakening route and "choose" to close. And plus, I will never get tired of seeing Meghann Fahy as Natalie. She will never beat Damiano, but her voice is MUCH better suited for the role. I pray it doesn't close anytime soon.
Remember the mailing piece says last chance to see on BROADWAY. Could be the code for moving to OFF BROADWAY. I have not heard anything about this happening, so this is just my vision (or dream).
But, I suppose I should just be happy at how long the show DID run! In this economy, the fact that a tiny, totally originally, heavy subject mattered show with an essentially no-named cast lasted as long as it did really is a testament to how incredible a show it is :)
And it's nice that at least the info is out there far in advance, so I have time to go see it a time or two again before it closes!
Still, it will be a real bummer to see it gone It's not even like I've seen it much (I've actually only seen it once on Broadway), but it's just.. it's always been nice to know it's still there, chugging along and being amazing haha
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
