They've got two shows listed for the 16th. One is at 3pm and the other is at 7:30pm
That means nothing. They always have two shows on Sundays. They have a different schedule than most shows: dark on Wednesdays with performances on Sunday and Monday nights. It's nothing unusual.
I didn't quite complete that. But unless I saw differently, the Sunday before, they've only got one performance scheduled? Unless telecharge.com was acting up on me.
The beginning of January has a slightly different performance schedule because of the holidays.
You can now buy tickets through January 16 on telecharge.

Does this mean 1-16-11 at 7:30 will be the final performance?

Probably. But no one can say for sure until there's been an actual closing announcement, period.

I hope this is all a stunt. We will see in the next few weeks if it is official or not, no need to bicker about it.
.....and Telecharge is only selling tickets for PHANTOM through March 12, 2011 ....... and for JERSEY BOYS through April 10, 2011. Guess that means those shows will be closing on those dates, right?????? NOT LIKELY!
Until there's an official press release, speculation is just that.... speculation.

Except it's not speculation... the flyer wasn't pulled out of people's asses...
Well, seeing how they have already released tix for two weeks PAST that date, it doesn't seem to be true.
Perhaps 'speculation' isn't quite the right word....but that is not an announcement.

Yes, the flyer is "official", but it's not a press release. Whenever there's an announcement (opening, closing, significant cast change), the marketing people put out a press release announcing it. It takes a while for anything paper to print, and by the time they're ready to send (or are sent), announcements can change. It's extremely expensive to have all those reprinted, so I don't know why they were sent out, but it's not official.
We asked a woman in the box office today about it, and she said that they had not been told anything official but that (direct quote here) "The word on the street, is it closes January second." Don't know if she heard it from someone official, or just maybe keeps up with the message boards, and when we asked about tickets for the 16th she said that they had been told not to sell past the 2nd, despite what's on telecharge....
Then, while we were sitting by the faces on 45th, a security guard we see often sat down a few feet away from us so we asked him and he said that it wasn't closing. He said he had heard about the flyer but that "It's definately not going anywhere as of now."
Again, don't know how much either of them know, or how honest they were being, but just adding in what I've heard.
As I said earlier, theater employees like box office personnel and security guards are the last to find out, and even if they do know, are instructed not to say anything but the company line.
The show is closing in January. Trust me.
I'm well aware that the show isn't making it much further, and I have been predicting a January closing for a while now. But I don't get why the box office wasn't selling seats past the 2nd even though they're on telecharge? We asked to buy tickets for the 16th, and she said she'd been told not to. So obviously she could be lying, but if they were allowed to sell seats past the 2nd, I don't get why they would turn away business. I mean, even if they are supposed to keep quiet about something....oh well.
A friend of mine just bought tickets for the 16th at the box office...
Then so will I, tomorrow. My goodness, people confuse me beyond belief. A simple "We don't know anything." Would have been perfectly acceptable. Thanks for sharing, adamgreer.

I received the same Mailer today. It says "Last Chance to See it on Broadway. Must End January 2".

The flyer says "Last time to see it on Broadway". Any chance it will pull and Avenue Q and move off Broadway? New World Stages? It's the kind of show that could make that shift.
Just a thought.
That's been mentioned.
But the current actors are not a part of the tour....and the tour begins in November. (If I remember correctly.)

I think they were just implying that, theoretically, you COULD still see the show itself, not necessarily those actors, just not on Broadway.
FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, PEOPLE! SHOWS CLOSE! GET OVER IT, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
*steps off soapbox*
Thank you.

Drama, much? I don't think the question being discussed anymore is whether or not n2n is closing (because yes, we are all aware that good shows close early), but rather *when*. Which makes a difference to a lot of people who might be planning a trip into the city to see the show before it does.
