I want MoNique as Hannigan. She can make Annie cook her pigs feet and drop TVs on Annie. Will Annie have a developed disabled baby?
OK. Now this thread is making me laugh.
Darquegk, are you forgetting that Benjamin Stacks is also a drug dealer?
No, Rooster is a drug dealer. Big Poppa Stacks figured out that he can make the same inoffensive romantic comedy-drama over and over again and the public will keep coming on name recognition alone.

I am so glad I found a board dedicated to keeping musical theater white! I am thrilled to be in the same company as all of you!
I bet Mrs. Pugh serves Benji Negrobucks fried chicken and watermelon instead of Virigina Ham and Baked Alaska! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

What's next?
Snow Black and the 7 Swaggers?
Shasquirta and the Beast?
101 Weavematians?
Willis in Ghettoland?
Before anyone starts hyperventilating, I'm just kidding :)
I also heard that they are using a new song for the finale, which goes like this: "I'm still, I'm still Annie from the block. Used to have a little now I have a lot. It doesn't matter 'cause I know where I came from".

Wow. This thread reveals some really ugly truths about the folks on this board.

A sense of perspective and humor are not ugly.
You should take it with a grain of salt.

JoeKv99, my point is that they can make an "all black version" of each and every film out there, but what is the point?
Maintaining the separation, like they used to have in the old days? Why would they want that? I thought people would like to get rid of that separation. Apparently it is important to some people to keep that in tact.
Anyway, beside that, I find it racist too. Imagine they would produce an all white movie version of Dreamgirls next year. What would be the point? What message would that send out to the world?

Dave, quit while you're behind.

Making a movie like this is ugly. People who think otherwise are behind :)
Jordan, he already did! It's racist. But maybe you didn't get it because his posts in this thread, not unlike Glee, are way too sharp, smart, witty, clever and emotionally confronting for the masses

Jordan, are you all for separated movies, busses and benches for black people?
I'm not.
And Kad, you are right! I did explain it. Although in this case I wouldn't call it "the masses". I was so clear, that I think it only went over Jordan's head.

So you must hate movies that have only white people in them.

Nope, I like to mix.
Black Grace Farrell and White Daddy Warbucks for example.
It's not about segregation Dave, it's about celebrating a specific culture.
Just for the record, I'm very excited for this. I LOVED The Wiz, and I'm hoping this Annie will be just as genius.
So once again, Dave is unable to grasp the complex, unpleasant nature of society. Shocking.

No Kad and All that Jazz, I understand it perfectly. And uptight attitudes like yours keep this unpleasant problem in tact.
Where does this lead? That families in African American homes only let their kids watch the black version of Annie?
I would rather see them watching the mixed version.
Should we celebrate the white culture and make an all white movie version of Dreamgirls with Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera and Pink?
This is not about celebrating.
And if it it, it should work in both ways. There are plenty of films that could get a remake with an all black cast. From Titanic to Snow White. But it is just silly.
Maybe a whole black remake of Les Miserables in 10 years? What's the difference?
Updated On: 5/1/13 at 10:21 AM
The difference is no one is proposing any such thing.
All this "What next?" "Where will it lead?" sounds like the same old bigoted panic we hear from right wingers about marriage equality.
No one's going to marry their dog, and a bunch of white people aren't going to remake "Dreamgirls."
