well, this is quite the interesting topic. I dont know about his love life, but he sure is sweet & pretty too. I congratulated him today when I saw him outside of Piazza and he was thrilled to hear I had seen the show 4 times and gave me a hug. I think he was about as excited to meet me as I was to meet him.
hah...I understand your straight mancrush...I have one too. I am in awe of his talent. He manages to capture character in a melodic way, that also captures the essence of the setting. I want to build up my songwriting repetoire just so i can get a mentorship from him or Jason Robert Brown.
My thoughts/comments were in NO way intended to be juicy, or gossipy, or malicious. I am merely reporting what one can read in American Theatre and/or the NYTimes.
I also shared that info not b/c I condemn people with addictive behaviours. I felt that interview was really brave for him b/c it was about coming back from that. As someone who has experienced that before (with myself and others) it was really reassuring to see someone that I admire so much be so frank and open about it.
All in all, HOT, incredibly gifted, talented, intelligent, and I'm sure he is the sweetest guy ever. And wouldn't you be, right after you won TWO TONY AWARDS for your BROADWAY DEBUT?
And is just me, or can you really see some of his grandfather in him?
I can't wait to meet him one day! In fact, I'm writing an enormous paper this summer to hopefully go to a Sondheim conference in the UK in Nov, and part of it I want to connect to people like Guettel, Tesori, LaChiusa, Brown (who's always a dear through email, and very helpful). How very exciting! Love me some Guettel, y'all! Renegade Shakespeare Company
Bolger was really wonderful in SWEENEY and in SPELLING BEE. She would seem to be a good fit for Clara, but she doesn read very young on stage. Clara is supposed to be older than Fabrizio. Bolger, unlike O'Hara wouldn't seem older than Morrison and I wonder how she did opposite Wayne Wilcox and especially Stephen Pasquale both of whom read much older than Morrison.
Guettel has been quite open about his drug problems.
I met Guettel after I saw Piazza, and I was probably crying, I was so touched -- but he was very nice and sincere in his appreciation of my comments and he seemed happy that his score touches so many people.
This thread is not "I Am So Enamored of Adam Guettel". It is "Adam Guettel is Hot!!!" It's not hard to find someone attractive without meeting them. I'm just saying...
Gah, why is such a pretty one hitting for the other team? I met him tonight and he was so nice. He signed me poster "For my new friend, Steven..." Aw... Heh. No, but he was really nice. And very hot. I was utterly speechless when I met him. I was just in awe. He's just so wonderful.
I think most people are responding to Adam's Talent and history (Ok, also his face and Bod) it's not that unhealthy to be attracted to a Talent like That I just Hope it doesn't take 5 years to write another show PIAZZA is a Musical Masterpiece He has already written two times the shows his Mom did and I love "MATTRES" I left off the last S fer Savings
Gee, I guess I came to the wrong place for theater discussion. I thought we would be talking about Guettel's work and whether Piazza is better, equal to or not as good as Floyd Collins or any of his other pieces...is he the next composer to define Broadway...etc.
Instead I find that we are talking about how HOT he is. Sigh
