Les Mis 2014 Casting?

Nikki M James as Eponine-Yes
Caissie Levy as Fantine-Save the shrieking for Elphaba
Will Swenson as Javert-Eh

I'd see Will Swenson in anything, anywhere, wearing anything, or nothing at all, but...Javert...? Eh. He has such a bright, resonant timbre that I don't see fitting Javert. We shall see...

Andrew Varela and Betsy Morgan were both the best parts about this production. Such a shame they are not coming to Broadway with this. They truly carried the entire show.

Is Josh Gad as Thernadier happening? That is something I would love to see.

Les Mis 2014 Casting?

Well, there go my hopes of Sierra Boggess playing Fantine and Melissa O'Neil playing Eponine. Maybe Sierra had the same thoughts as Patti Lupone about the West End being the perfect place to play the role and she does not want to do it on Broadway.

no Varela? Saaad panda. I'm glad I took the chance(s) to see him when I did; he was truly inspiring and breathed incredible life into my favorite character.

Varela tweeted months ago that he wouldn't be in the revival.

^I'm aware of that.

I was merely stating that if the reason they chose not to involve Varela (which we know) is because they wanted Will Swenson, well then that seems like a bad choice (I've never really enjoyed Swenson in anything I've seen him in, but was mesmerized by Varela as Javert).

I was replying to Rabekriegerin.

("no Varela?" seems to indicate they didn't realize he wouldn't be in it until now).

I'm curious if Varela said no to an offer to do the revival, or if they just want fresh blood. He is probably the best reviewed Javert ever seen in the US, so why they would cut him loose is a mystery to me.

From his tweets, I got the impression that he was not asked. The tour preceding the Broadway engagement has made some... interesting choices in non-renewals throughout, so that wouldn't surprise me if it were the case.

Who else didn't get renewed? Aside from Lawrence Clayton who was outright fired?

Les Mis 2014 Casting?

Just reading the reviews coming out of Toronto on Wednesday, and reading about Cameron Macintosh's long term relationship with him, I think that Ramin has a very good shot at playing JVJ on Broadway, and maybe even a Tony Award.

The last "revival" wasn't eligible for Tony Awards so I don't think this one will be either.

Les Mis 2014 Casting?

The last revival was eligible for Tony Awards, just not nominated for anything. You're confusing the ruling that stated the costume and set design would be ineligible. This new version, from all accounts, would be using new sets as well as costumes.

Les Mis 2014 Casting?

I hope that the Broadway cast is announced soon. If Ramin does not come with the transfer, I seriously think that I will have to go to Toronto to see him in this. I would not want to miss the opportunity from what I have read.

Let's just say that I have been given to understand that Clayton wasn't the only one.

For what it's worth (and I realize this is pure speculation and means nothing), Ramin Karimloo and Will Swenson very recently started following each other on Twitter. I noticed after Ramin tweeted at Caissie today. I know Ramin has said he would not be a part of the Broadway production but maybe he changed his mind? I had a feeling from the get-go that either he or Alfie Boe would be playing Valjean, but I have no idea.

Les Mis 2014 Casting?

I've heard from more then one place that Caissie Levy is a definite yes. For what it's worth, when driving this weekend, I heard Seth Rudetsky discussing her casting with Christine Pedi on one of his weekend Sirius XM shows.

Les Mis 2014 Casting?

If half these rumors are true, this could actually be a pretty decent production. I'm really looking forward to the day when they (finally) announce the cast!

Les Mis 2014 Casting?

^ As mentioned on here, Varela is not coming to Broadway. Which is very sad since he was the best part of an otherwise forgettable production. I really hope that they alter the set a little bit for Broadway. The sight lines were TERRIBLE on the road. The proscenium was very narrow, which blocked a lot of the action for people sitting off to the side.

Pardon me if this has already been stated, but which part would Cassie be playing?
