Has anyone else heard it?
It's no secret I really didn't enjoy the show but this recording is wonderful. I still really don't like the score but everyone sounds great in this recording, the orchestra sounds fantastic, and it's really just overall well-produced. I'm liking it so far.
Am I liking it just because I wasn't expecting to like it? Or are you guys enjoying it too?
Haven't stopped listening to it since it came out. So much fun.

I wish I could hear the full recording! I like what I've heard, but that isn't much.
Got it today and have already listened to it twice. Great job on the recording...and I'm glad it was released so quickly after it had been recorded.
It's pretty good. I'm liking Chad Kimball's songs the most.

Does the score remind anyone else of Elton John, especially Chad Kimball's songs?
Can kinda see it in songs like Memphis Lives in Me

It is out now.
I tried Amazon but do not see it there yet & the same holds true for Footlight.
It's only at the theatre and on the Memphis website at the moment. I'm not sure if a street date has even been announced yet.

Is there a detailed synopsis of this show somewhere, or could someone PM one to me? I'd like to know what's going on during these songs.
I just got my recording as well, but I don't know if I want to listen to it yet because I haven't seen the show yet...

Anyone know why the front of the CD says limited edition on it?
I don't think the regular release will have the bonus track.
Alright, so I caved and am listening to it...it's actually a wonderfully sounding recording. They've done a really nice job with this.
Has anyone rushed this recently? I don't imagine it's too difficult to get SR tickets.
I work for the merch. company that sells that at that theatre, and I was told that they are special edition because apparently the CDs that are going to come out after that won't include a book of lyrics. I was selling them yesterday's matinee and Friday night, so you might have seen me there if you bought one.

I bought the 'Memphis' cast album the other day, and I've already played it a number of times. Love it. I'm also glad they recorded the songs straight through, without including the dialogue that sometimes is interwoven during the course of the song in the show. But I have two questions: One, in the next edition, could they consider adding a running order to the back of the CD? It's a pet peeve. If I want to replay a track, I want to quickly glance at the back of the CD & not have to refer to the booklet. ... Two, why won't there be a booklet in future CDs? Does it save them that much to leave it out? That said, I'm glad the CD is out before Christmas!
I actually wish they had included some dialogue. It's a nice CD, but I have no idea what the hell is going on.

The 'Memphis' booklet has two pages of plot synopsis, and tells you where the songs come up in the plot. That's kinda standard. I think most original cast albums are all about the songs; not about including dialogue.
I just heard it and I really enjoy this recording. It definitely makes me more interested in seeing the show.
JudasIscariot,
Why would they not include a lyric book when the CD starts selling in the stores, Amazon, etc? That doesn't make sense to me. I've purchased many OBCR and all of them have always had a lyric book.

Is there any word on when and/or if Memphis is going to be available as a download from iTunes?
Is the "limited edition" only available at the theatre?
