Looking to see a play on Broadway in November/December. What is the best play on Broadway right now? Any you would recommend? Any not worth seeing? Thanks in advance!
I agree ^ if you mean PLAY, then Glass Menagerie is truly stunning. (Unless you are bringing youger kids.)
If you meant "show" and therefore are considering musicals, too, let me add: PIPPIN, and Kinky Boots. Both which will be difficult to get tickets for (along with Matilda) during the Holiday weeks, and there may not be any discounts.
Also: Newsies is a lot of fun, and Once is a beautiful show, as well.
It's kind of difficult to suggest shows blankly to someone not knowing what they really mean or what they like.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
The Glass Menagerie is phenomenal and will probably be considered the yardstick by which any future productions are measured. It is a master class in acting from the entire cast and this was the first time I've seen a production that did not feel like it was all about Amanda. It really is a must-see.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Globe Twelfth Night, which is in previews. It is another magical production and the cast is top-notch. Rylance will probably get a Tony nom for his Olivia, but so many other actors in the production are also great -- Paul Chahidi as Maria, Samuel Barnett's Viola/Cesario, and Angus Wright as Sir Andrew.
I agree with the others, I loved The Glass Menagerie. Winslow Boy was very good too. I am not seeing Domesticated until next week, so I can not comment.
The best straight play on Broadway is THE GLASS MENAGERIE. Hands down. DOMESTICATED, off Broadway at Lincoln Center, is also well worth checking out if you can get a ticket.
