I think it's exciting to have a season where Best Musical and Best Play both have SO many options!

(These are my humble opinions)

I think FUN HOME is the only lock for a Best Musical nomination. And CURIOUS INCIDENT only lock for Best Play nom.

The others depend on the season. I'd normally say DISGRACED would get a nomination but I wonder if it will be forgotten. I also am surprised nobody listed WOLF HALL. I wonder if they will be nominated together or a separately. Chita is a lock for a nom I think but not THE VISIT as a production. Helen Mirren is lock for a nom but not THE AUDIENCE for a Production.

Roger Rees is above the title in THE VISIT, and has a huge role. Heck, the story is almost more about him (think Giorgio in Passion).

Jason Danieley will be the featured male from the show that will receive any consideration.

There's going to be a sh*tload of shows opening in the next few weeks so it's way too early to predict anything, but I predict the twins from SIDESHOW will not get a nod (I don't think they deserve it, especially in the acting dept.) and that little girl from GIGI will get a nod, everyone loves a newcomer, and that should be a good role.

No love for Jake Gyllenhall in the play category? I think we might be surprised.

^Agree about Jake!

Also throwing out there that I think Clyde Alves from "On The Town" has a great chance at Featured Actor. But sooooo early to tell since less than half the shows have opened.

^ I think Jackman will get in there. He's beloved in the community, keeps coming back despite his superstar status, and was a revelation in this play.

theres a lot of other great leading men in plays. I think the fact that he's in The River will bring him down despite how beloved he is.

FINDING NEVERLAND is gonna have to be really, really great to get a nod because Weinstein is not going to be very popular on the Broadway. Unless he can by a nomination.

There are more than 7 plays and 7 musicals this season so there will be 5 slots in the direction and choreography categories.

carlodowd just copied all of my predictions.

The reason i'm not showing much support for An American in Paris, Doctor Zhivago, nor On the Town is because this is an extremely competitive season!! I barely even predict that something rotten will get to much even though i think it's gonna be great. My predictions are probably gonna change a lot though once the shows open, and i see them. These are just my thoughts for now

Before the remaining shows open I would say only the following shows are locks or near-locks

FUN HOME (Best Musical): There's no way this doesn't get nominated. Most people considered it to be the best musical of last year, it was a Pulitzer finalist, and it has a great pedigree. I don't necessarily think its a lock to win, but I can't see how any of the remaining shows bump it from a nomination.

HONEYMOON IN VEGAS (Best Musical): I think this will likely get in, unless it can't stay open until Tony's because of poor box office. It will be interesting to see if the post-opening good reviews bump holds next week.

FINDING NEVERLAND (Best Musical): Producers are going to want this to succeed because its a known property that would tour well. It will need to improve from its ART run and the Weinsteins might be a liability, but they are always willing to fork over the money for over the top awards campaigning and they will go full force with this.

THE KING AND I (Best Musical Revival): I know no one has seen it yet, but I simply can't see this team making something so bad as to not get a nomination. At worst it will be bland and competent, but not transcendent like SOUTH PACIFIC was, but that should be enough for a nomination.

CURIOUS INCIDENT (Best Play): The biggest hit new play of the season, I just don't see how there could be four new plays that open by April that could boot this from a nomination.

YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU (Best Play Revival): I don't think this will win, but it was the best reviewed revival of the season so far and the sort of solid interpretation of a classic beloved play that almost never fails to get a nomination.

I am kind of with you on Something Rotten! for right now as that is going to be opening cold in New York. On the Town got rave reviews, so I don't see how it's not gonna be nominated. Plus the nomination could really give it a box office boost (if it's still running by then).

From the buzz on An American in Paris, it could have potential. From what I've heard from the score, I think Doctor Zhivago could have great potential.

It is absolutely absurd to be predicting nominations for Tam Mutu and Ken Watanabe, people who have not given one performance yet. Not that I'm surprised, that sort of nonsense always happens here.

The thing about Dr. Zhivago though is that I simply do not see it being successful on Broadway. Sure its a known property, but its not a "fun" story. Straight up serious adult romance/drama that's not a classic show just doesn't do well unless its unanimously critically successful. You would have to go back to Light in the Piazza to find a show that even came close without the full fledged critical support and that was in a weaker year with one of the best received scores released on Broadway of the last 20 years. Even if Dr. Zhivago is decent, that won't be enough and its terrible box office will kill it.
