Amazing numbers for WAR PAINT, COME FROM AWAY & ANASTASIA!
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Is it possible that people bought tix in advance for WAR PAINT based on the names of the leading ladies alone, like I did?? I can't imagine that show having strong word of mouth - but perhaps I am wrong!!
"See that poster on the wall? Rocky Marciano." - Andy Karl as Rocky in 'ROCKY'

Of course people are going for Lupone and Ebersole alone.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.
Anasatasia's got an amazing start. I can only imagine what might happen if it gets good reviews.
Amelie and Groundhog Day are a bit concerning. Unless they find tune some stuff before their openings, I say they'll close by Tony night unless they pick up major nominations or garner rave reviews.
Significant Other, In Transit, and On Your Feet just amazes me with how their still running, much less selling tickets into 2018.
Groundhogs gross seems low, but could that be due to handing out comps to those who went to the first preview? So happy for Come From Away. It's amazing to see a show like it without much name recognition out grossing those that do. I think it's funny it's gross and Miss saigons were about the same

Fine tune what? It's too late now to fine tune anything before their openings, marketing wise.
Jorge this is GHD's second week, not first. No first preview comps are included.

"
People who attended the first preview of GHD got comps for future preview performances since they didn't perform the entire show on the first preview.

You've a fair point about Amelie. As for Groundhog Day, they've quite a bit of time to make changes from London to opening night, as we've heard is being done to Charlie & the Chocolate Factory.
So happy for War Paint. Proof that Patti CAN sell tickets especially when combined with Ebersole. Even if the momentum only lasts a few months, there shouldn't be a doubt that Patti's name still has some box office appeal.
