This was probably my favorite episode of Theatre Talk and probably the only episode I liked Michael.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

God I miss Joan. Boy could we use her wit and sense of humor right now.
I actually wonder. She was 'hired' on that stupid show....and she was friends with Trump. Maybe just as well. I hide to admit that I am becoming increasingly biased against anyone who is even remotely a Trump supporter because he is so repugnant to me.
I don't think it was hard to imagine Bette as a good pick for Hello Dolly, it was that many people didn't think she would want to do such a huge/involved musical again...
So this discussion was back in the spring of f 2013, and they mentioned Midler was wanted for the musical. It took quite a while for this deal to work out, and get her onstage four years later! I would love to hear the history on this....
In 1997, Bette Midler guest starred on an episode of "The Nanny," and a clip of a song from "Hello, Dolly" was performed in that same episode. I thought this thread was about that. Crazy that 20 years later she is on Broadway doing the show!
It was interesting (surprising!) to her Joan's claim that she wrote the original screenplay to Midler's film The Rose. IMDb lists these folks as involved:
