"The stage is where I live and come alive and act out all the things that go on in my life. It's not just what I do for a living, it's my shrink and my love affair. No one in my life has ever or ever will kiss me on the mouth like this lover called my relationship with my performance."
The Full Monty. I saw it here in Melbourne three weeks ago. I went along not really expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. This was to have been the beginning of a national tour but it is to close in a couple of weeks as they couldn't give tickets away to it.Pity.
THE LAST FIVE YEARS! Now, I didn't get to see it, but last June, when I heard the cd for the first time, I literally became obsessed and wanted to listen to it ALL THE TIME!
There are few musicals that 'get under my skin' as such. But, sadly, it is The Last Five Years. I don't listen to any musical CDs bar this one. Hey - it's Valentine's Day, perhaps a little trip down Jamie/Cathy marital bliss/hell will cheer me up!
*rereads BB's post. Oh sorry! You said musical or non. Oh OK, the last show I saw that got really under my skin and made me think so much was The Man Who, a play based on the book The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat. It was a beautiful production in every aspects. I was mesmerised.
Ragtime. When I first saw it in Toronto, it was spellbinding.
