What do you think?

Aaron Carter in SEUSSICAL for me.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Well, I've seen them all and I can say that Mel B., while not being the greatest performer on the Broadway stage was not that bad. I expected much worse from what I had heard from the catty people here.
Toni Braxton on the other hand was awful in both of those shows and that's a shame because she has such a beautiful voice. Broadway just isn't her thing, though. But she tried and I've got to give her credit for that.

Can't say what who the worst was, or where she stacked up against Toni Braxton for "bad", but I saw Michelle Williams in Aida last December and I felt she was totally wrong for the part. Of the six shows we went to that week, I enjoyed Aida the least...and it was one that I was looking forward to based on the cast recording.

I saw Carl Anderson as Judas in the "Jesus Christ Superstar" tour not too long ago... he was so old. And I think he died shortly after the tour. He wasn't exactly bad; but to put a dying man onstage...

I too, loved Sebastian Bach in Jekyll & Hyde. Was he a great actor? No, but he has an incredible raw talent, and his vocals were something to hear. He also used his legit voice for Jekyll and rock voice for Hyde, making the show work in musical terms in a way I never heard anyone else accomplish or even attempt. Thought it was a very misunderstood, greatly underrated performance.

well directly comparing his "this is the moment" to cuccioli's or warloe's is a little rough... hence my dislike for him

What recording are you referring to? He sang it live on the radio once, where he rocked it up a little, but in the theatre, he sang it pretty straight, and in its original key (the Warlow key), the only Broadway Jekyll to have done so.

I agree staticradar, stunt-casting closes doors for unknown actors who are trying to get a job on Broadway. I understand if a "star" began on Broadway and is actually a good theater performer, but come on, some of these "stars" don't make the cut.

It's interesting to me, after all the hand-wringing that went on when it was announced, that no one has mentioned Sean Combs in RAISIN IN THE SUN.

my icon is of Joshua Kobak...the picture i didn't alter much when making the icon, but I love the way that it looks...it's on his site somewhere I think, i'm not sure...I don't remember where I got the picture...ha ha...

And yes stunt casting does close doors for those more experienced actors or new actors to get a role that could launch their careers. I would rather see someone who is trained in theatre than some pop star who can't hack the role. I'm already upset about having to go see Mel B this summer when I see RENT, i'm just going to see Matt before he leaves...
