They made a movie of it? Who plays Aida?
cast recording. CAST RECORDING.
That being said, glad you like the OBCR.
*whispers* "If you don't want to be chased by a mob...it's always cast recording." :-P I think I learned that the hard way....
I think Namo is trying to say in a roundabout way that the preferred BWW term is "cast recording" (musical theater) rather than "soundtrack" (movie).
Anyway, glad you liked it. Unfortunately you wouldn't be able to see it here in NY either, as it closed last September, but if Disney opened it in Canada, I might have to go up there.

I preferred Patrick Cassidy - more singing, less scratchy clawing at the notes.
Well, well, well.
Yes, it's cast recording, but I'm so glad you're loving it. AIDA was my baby, and Adam is one of my favourite people in the world, as you can see. Welcome to loving AIDA - sorry you didn't get to see it. It was something very special.
The score was that show's biggest strength. For me to "review" the CD would be dumb, since I've been head over heels in love with it for almost five years now, but it's probably my favourite cast recording. Stunning score, brilliant vocals in the cast.
I miss it.

"the preferred BWW term is "cast recording" "
It has nothing to do with BWW - it's simply a matter of definition. Not everybody takes it as seriously as others.
I think AIDA's music is among the best new scores of recent musicals. I hated the show - I thought it was terrible - but the CR sounds amazing.

I simply loathe the Zoser numbers with a passion...
But the rest of the music I love...
as for Adam.... i still can't get past the fact that he sings it "anonymous and gone to mow.." in Enchantment Passing Through... what mow the lawn??? argh
ROTFLMAO. I've been trying to figure that out for YEARS. The line is "anonymous and gone tomorrow." *shrug*
We like him anyway...

I've always hated how he said that line, I completely agree.
I really don't love Aida, I think some of the music is good, some is somewhat bad and a little of it is very good. The cast itself is fantastic though. Heather Headly is incredible.
The only song that I hate is "Like Father Like Son" - should have been cut.
"Mediocre Elton John is better than some of that other CRAP out there."
-Adam Pascal
I think that fits this thread.

They should have at least gotten rid of the ensemble's parts in that song, I cringe every time I hear them.
Favorites- Past is Another Land, Gods Love Nubia, Elaborate Lives, Every Story is a Love Story.
wheee Elaborate Lives.

Actually, I have loved the music since I saw the show exactly four years ago. I always thought it was great. All of it.

"I Know The Truth" is a great song - and was actually gorgeously staged.
oh yes, elaborate lives. both of them. i just want to melt.
emcee-love the quote.
i saw the show twice and then started listening to the cast recording, and now i want to see it again! sucks for me.
See? He can say real stuff sometimes. :-P
I despise the Zoser songs, which is a shame because John HicocK seems like such a talent. I also don't like How I Know You, or the Reprise.
My favorites on the recording are Elaborate Lives, Past Is Another Land and Gods Love Nubia.
The show had its faults, but it had so many strengths and it was my very first Broadway show, so it holds a very special place in that area where my heart would be if I had one.
